Major factors and constraints affecting production practices of potato
There are a number of factors that affect potato production; the degree of influence is not same though. Therefore, multiple regressions model was employed in order to identify some independent factors that have significant effects on potato production under smallholders’ context in the study area. The result showed significant F-values (21.13) with R2 values of 17.6% in which independent variables used in the model explained variation in potato productivity (Table 7) as their coefficients are significantly different from zero. This indicates the goodness of fit of the model. Out of the 4 independent variables submitted into the model to assess their quantitative effect

This can be related with the fact that as natural hazard like drought, non-seasonal rainfall, etc occur repeatedly, potato production will decrease due to the negative impact of the natural hazard on its growth and productivity. In support of this idea, the immediate impacts of climate change on agriculture occur during or immediately after a natural hazard or extreme event, such as damage to crops, farmlands and agriculture infrastructure from cyclones and flooding …show more content…
Intensive farming system (e.g. multiple cropping), use of area specific recommendation of fertilizers, use of cost effective pest control methods, introducing low cost storage facilities and cooperation of farmers to manage market problems should be adequately addressed to improve potato production and utilization in the study area. Furthermore, the extension service should take up potato as essential and specialty commodity giving priority to enhance its productivity. Input provision such as intensification of farm land, irrigation access, improved seeds, fertilizers and pesticides should also be adequately scheduled to meet the cropping calendar. The agricultural bureau of the zone and respective weredas should also start farmer-based seed production, multiplication and storage programs. Area specific fertilizer usage programs, appropriate land use systems cooperating with the nearby stakeholders such as higher education institutions and research centers are necessary to ensure that soil fertility will be maintained, clean seed will be readily available; and as a result production and utilization of potato will be improved. By doing so food security plan will also be gradually meet its goal together with the

The city of Chelsea in Shelby County, is one of the fastest growing cities in the entire state of Alabama. Chelsea is an attractive area due to its small town feel and family friendly population. The city has a great deal to offer as a home however has one problem that has gotten little attention by local representatives. As the new city mayor one would hope to address numerous areas of roadways that have gotten little to no maintenance over the years. Potholes in the city have been neglected and as a result have become a problem for local residents.
Should WTRFG Be Taught In 7th Grade I am Brody Hilsendeger. I really enjoyed to book a lot so today I will be explain why the book Were The Red Fern Grows should be taught to 7th graders every year.
Working Conditions of Farm workers in San Joaquin County Besides its strategic location, San Joaquin County produces more than 250 verities of crops. Key of these crops includes fruits, vegetables and partly dairy animal production. The produce leads to top development of San Joaquin county maturity. Moreover, the recent research shows that, the county gross product increases up to 25 billion every year.
“The vision of a huge fertile garden extending from the Appalachians to the Pacific Ocean had inspired Americans since the early days of the republic” (Out of Many - A History of the American People, pg. 622). Since its beginning, the American ways of farming had always been gradually evolving, but in the time between 1865 and 1900, it transformed like never before. The American tradition of agriculture would experience dramatic changes, as the growth of production and agribusiness would ensue from revolutions in technology, massive increase in population, and alterations in government policies. A major factor in changing the way of agriculture was the new technology being developed in farming and transportation.
“The more exposure people have to the realities of factory farming, the more we will see people rejecting it. It's already happening”(Jonathan Safran Foer). Factory farming has been going on since the 1900’s. Factory Farming is the production of livestock in large quantities for uses such as food supplies. Factory Farming is damaging to the animals, our bodies, and the environment.
This is related to the agriculture industry because agriculture, and the economy based off of agriculture is one large part of what connects the Global North and South. Due to the changing climate, farmers are affected and so are growing seasons, which affect relations between

In order to stop world hunger, we need more organizations and food drives to provide food for hungry people. Let 's look into the pros and cons of our first solution which is that we need more organizations to distribute food to other parts of the world. Some more organizations like The Hunger Project and Bread For The World are needed in this world. These
Catalase Enzyme Lab: Research Question: What is the impact of the temperature (of a potato) on the rate of reaction (measured by the amount of O2 bubbles formed)? Background Information: Enzymes are proteins that aid certain chemical processes that take place. When a chemical reaction takes place, a certain amount of energy is need for it to occur. When an enzyme is present, the amount of energy needed for a chemical process to occur is reduced.
The overall project goals and central questions that has to do with the project is mostly trying to determine the isotonic concentration of the salt in potato roots and the use of the ideal soil salt conditions for the potato plant growth. In part 2, we had to test the enzyme activity that is in the was involved in the potato, so we can also determine the ideal soil pH conditions for the potato plant growth. In part 3, we were able to test absorb the leaf pigment at various wavelengths that determine the optimum light absorption conditions and was able to make recommendations for the light conditions that would be used un greenhouses. The goal of the first project is to determine the ideal soil salt for potato roots and we can relate this to the project is to find out if Solution A or Solution B has more solute in it. The goal of this project is to determine the meaning of Osmosis.
Food production has become a problem in america because food companies selling fast food to america and its unhealthy for us. America should also be aware that marketing fast food and snacks that's is unhealthy to children will lead to obesity. Kids need to stop eating fast food because they are getting desicise with they are too young to get. Children are getting sick from the product from eating unhealthy snacks and fast food because the food companies are putting unhealthy things in product. The problem with this because we are eating animals that we should never eat.
The impact of climate change is being felt throughout the world; however, the situation is more pronounced in developing countries because many households, social groups and regions have a limited capacity to adapt to climate variability and change (UNFCCC, 2007; IPCC 2007). The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC, 2007:6) defined climate change as any change in climate over time, whether due to natural variability or as a result of human activity. The (UNFCCC 2007) espoused that agricultural production on the African continent relies primarily on rainfall. As such, any interruption in rainfall pattern and intensity will adversely affect the poor, predominantly the smallholder farmers (ibid).
Introduction: “Sustainable agriculture is the efficient production of safe high quality agricultural products, in a way that protects and improves the natural environment the social and economic conditions of farmers their employees and local communities and safe guard the health and welfare of all farmed species“ There are three main principles of sustainable agriculture, the three principles are: 1. Economic sustainability 2. Environmental sustainability 3. Social sustainability With the human population continuing to rise, it is vital that the agricultural industry becomes more sustainable to meet the needs of the growing population. One of the impacts of this growing population is an increase in land usage for settlement purposes.
Food security is one of the greatest problems faced the world. There is fact said that food is enough for everyone in the world but because of the great changes which happened rapidly in the world the rate of food become less than before and it is difficult to secure it. Food security is very important to ensure that everyone has enough to eat and families can build their communities without worrying about securing their live. To meet global needs, food production must be doubled in the next years in order to solve many issues such as: starvation, malnutrition and associated health. According to The World Food Summit of 1996 defined food security as existing “when all people at all times have access to sufficient, safe, nutritious food to maintain
