Marriage of younger siblings: This is another factor of family opposition because if elder brother or sister did Intercaste marriage it is like disaster on family. We know that Alva is a Pacific Islander, their traditions and cultures are very different from Latino cultures. Alva’s family was not pleased by her decision to marry someone outside her race. In their wedding traditions, much emphasis is placed on the opinion of their elders and a lot of prayer and family event traditions are practiced during the ceremony. Pacific islanders traditions and customs are about having a united family, were they all work together for the good of their community. In Jesu’s family, we know he is a Latino, and just like Alva’s family, his family was not very fond of the idea of him marrying outside his race and cultural background.
Many parents in the world today still plan marriages for their children. For example, the members of Indian culture still practices arranged
It is evident that marriage is full of ups and downs, but the way couples manage these fluctuations in their relationship determines the strength of their connection. Both partners in a committed relationship must feel the same way and work equally as hard to push through potential obstacles. Being devoted to the relationship can ensure that the marriage will be able to survive the hardships and maintain a healthy, successful marriage. The emotional hardships and positives that a married couple endures on a daily basis are presented throughout the entirety of the poem, “Marriage”, by Gregory Corso. Corso’s poem explores the pressures and factors that influence marriage and sheds light on Updike’s short story about a couple facing divorce.
However, today there is growing awareness of how harmful they can be, especially for young women. Arranged marriages lack the element of love and mutual consent, leading to a lack of normalcy for young women. This part of my essay will talk about the dangers of arranged marriages for young women. Firstly, arranged marriages restrict young women’s freedom of choice. In many cases, young women are forced into marriages against their will, often for the sake of financial gain or to maintain social status.
Hey Latonya, I enjoyed reading your post. Blended families are becoming more and more common. There are some blended families in my extended family. One of the problems I have seen is that the stepparent does not feel as if they have any authority to discipline their stepchildren.
Because of globalization, United States is the land of migrators who come from many different cultures in the world. Therefore, cross-cultural marriage has become a common trend in society. However, whether cross-cultural and international marriage is always beneficial is the query that might be asked by many people. To debate this social phenomenon, Richardson, in her article, “ Seek Success: Marry Someone Like Yourself”, explains why opportunities to have happiness in cross-cultural marriage are zero.
What is the main claim made in this article? The argument in this article, as far as marriage as an evolving institution is concerned, is that marriage is not necessarily a bond between a man and woman, rather a union between two people irrespective of race, gender and social classes. This is according to the evolution of marriage that previously used to be just an arranged or coerced union strictly between man and woman, where the latter practically had no rights.
The first reason why parents should not choose their child’s spouse is because it helps build confidence. When finding a spouse, it takes much confidence to do such a thing. Some families don’t allow their children to find a spouse for themselves because of their religious practices and rituals. If a person does not know who they are going to be marrying because their parents are choosing, that person will have a very low confidence level because it’s a common thing to find someone who was the same values, religious views, or compliments the person’s personality. Marriage is an important institution in a society and although there have been changes in the trend of marriage pattern, it is still very clear that marriage still matters. Marriage exists and its main aim is to bring two people together to form a union, where a man and a woman leave their families and join together to become one where they often start their own family. Sociologists are mostly interested in the relationship between marriage and family as they form the key structures in a society. The key interest on the correlation between marriage and family is because marriages are historically regarded as the institutions that create a family while families are on the other hand the very basic unit upon which our societies are founded on.
The caste system in India was very complicated. Although there were only four main classes, Brahmans, Kshatriyas, Vaisyas, and the Sudras, dictated by Brahmanical teachings there were in fact a myriad of other classes with which was used in the Indian caste system. India’s caste system was sustained for three main reasons as pointed out by McNell. The first indication being that it was of ceremonial purity which gave the higher class Brahmans more reason to avoid contact with those associating with a lower class, as McNell points out the Brahman held, “Fear of contaminating oneself by contact with a member of a lower “unclean” caste.” Because these higher class individuals wished to separate themselves for religious purposes, a caste system was used to avoid those of a lower standing within their society so that they may remain pure.

However, once they meet the right person their relationship is a huge whirlwind and they end up falling in love, changing their opinion on marriage and get married. They tend to take a more modern approach to checking the married box on paperwork and have to get married on their own terms rather than the terms of others that are forced upon the first type of
I believe that every family has their own roots, essence, uniqueness, beliefs and thoughts, some families have both parents, some just the mother, just the father, two mothers or two fathers, they might have an only child or two, or maybe 5 or even 10, therefore, those children start learning all these things from their family and surroundings, they ask questions, they imitate each other’s actions and are constantly learning and trying to catch as much information and experiences as possible. Children are growing fast, their parents are their role models, they learn mostly from them; parents have the tremendous job of forming good citizens that provide to society, healthy and happy beings that keep growing as humans in every stage of their

These are mostly seen in family land sharing among sisters and brothers.
