There are some key factors that will lead a company towards international expansion and of course, the same goes to FashionValet. The company has their warehouses and offices in Malaysia and also Singapore.
One of the factors that leads FashionValet to internationalization expansion is because there are competitors’ pressures in the market. Fashion industry is very competitive, but the benefit that FashionValet possess is that they are not competing with the fashion brand, but they are the one who carry the fashion brands. FashionValet will only view them as the platform that sells and promotes different fashion brands. So, the major competitors of FashionValet are the e-commerce fashion brands such as Zalora and Poplook. Zalora is the largest and rapid growing fashion focused e-commerce site in the Southeast Asia. They have expanded their business to overseas, namely Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and Hong Kong. The products that FashionValet sold are from the local designers, so they are the one that can help their designers to go into internationalization. FashionValet has realized that the local fashion designers have difficulties to reach the mass market and developing a customer base (Journals, 2017). Therefore, they might want to promote the local designers into international and try to introduce their products in certain country. This would make the local designers become well known as the products could reach the demands of the foreign customers. The reputation of the both the company and local designers would be better in the future.
