Even today, many people don't believe that books are constantly being banned, censored, or even burned. In Florida whole elementary school libraries are being covered because all of the books aren't vetted by the government. With that being said, Ray Bradbury really captured what society would look like in a couple of decades even if most of us are scared to admit it. In the book Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, when conflicts encourage delusion or ignorance, questions are posed and realization occurs.
In Montag’s society, they believe that books should be destroyed. In the society that Montag lives in, they turned the firemen into full time book burners. It even says in the text,”with this great python spitting its venomous kerosene upon the world. ”(Bradbury pg.3) What the text is saying, is that instead of the hose spraying water it is like a python spraying its deadly venom, which is kerosene.

First, I was amazed by the words manipulation that the author played with. Although most of the words are very confusing, but after I get to know them, the whole book became more reasonful to me.
Throughout today’s culture, there are many occurrences that are similar to those demonstrated F451. In a letter written by Kurt Vonnegut to the board of a high school in North Dakota, he talks about his book and some other books being burned since they contained “obscene language”. In fahrenheit 451, the possession of any book is against the law. So the books are burned by firemen just like Kurt Vonnegut’s book was at the high school.
In the Novel Fahrenheit 451, one way that the government controls their society is by outlawing owning and reading any type of literature. There are a couple reasons why the government does this. This gives the government more power and the bad part is that the people let it happen. If the government works for us then the people could have stopped it or protested against it. A society where reading non approved books is possible because less people are becoming involved with books, altering information online is easy, and people think that the problem will fix itself or someone will do it.

According to an article on Gale, books that feature people of color or feature a character apart from the LGBTQ+, are more likely to get banned than books that aren’t. Although Fahrenheit 451 has vulgar language, it shouldn’t be banned because it encourages the reader to seek knowledge through books and it promotes self-awareness. In the 21st century, many books are challenged and banned for their content, some of these include The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Animal Farm, and Fahrenheit 451. Many of the reasons given for banning are the same. The reasons include violence, language, symbols, and religion. This makes it very difficult for educational professionals; which books should be taught and which ones should be banned, when does protection become unnecessary censorship? Although Fahrenheit 451 shows some dark themes such as banning books, disregard for human life, and suicide, it should be included in the school curriculum because it shows the dystopian future that awaits the world if the events in the book become a reality.
Ironically, Fahrenheit 451 is one of the most banned books in American schools. The book was seen as evil for ideas like opposing the suppression of freedom by parties that presumed they had all the answers. Books such as Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Brave New World, The Giver, and The Hunger Games have been banned in schools, and they all explore the themes of suppressing freedom, information, and intellectual thinking. Prohibiting these books will only lead less thought; it will lead to the ultimate demise of society. If we do not learn from them, we will become them.
A majority of people agree with this ban, and see books as an obstacle to joy. Censorship can affect everyone in the world in many different ways. In the case of the book “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, it has a negative effect on the city. The government banishing the books from society is taking away the power of knowledge from the people. Knowledge is a way of power and with that, the more knowledge one has the more power they will have. This is also the case in slavery in the U.S in the 18th century.
In the book, Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, the whole utopia is taken over by a mass media where books are burnt if caught in your possession, they focused on entertainment, and violence is no big deal. When I think about the overall book, the world, censorship comes to mind. Everyone seems to be very obsessed with media because books are now not there to be able to entertain and give knowledge. Without knowledge, that whole utopia is madness. Fahrenheit 451 takes place in a future society where they ban possession of books and reading and the job of firemen is to burn all books from people’s homes using the temperature of 451; the temperature that papers burn.

The book, ironically, is about a fireman who runs away from society because he refuses to burn books and submit to a life without meaning. Although "Fahrenheit 451" brings up issues pertaining to controversial beliefs, it should not be banned because of it's educational value. By reading this book students are exposed to life lessons and experiences all within the confines of a book.
At one point in time, over 7,220 books have been challenged to be banned. Though these books have been removed for the safety of children, not all books should be banned for many reasons. These include the fact that banning books is infringing on the First Amendment, keeping children from understanding the real world, and, even though there are many reasons for book banning, not banning books could help a student’s education and can even work against itself. Banning a book from a school or public library could go against a person’s First Amendment of the freedom of press.
