This shows as Montag was running away from the city, his wife Mildred not giving a care in the world about him. Putting her seashell radio to her ear and going about her day like this is a sort of normal activity.This issue demonstrates how technology can make people not care about their life in front of them. Mildred is careless and selfish about her husband and has been throughout the novel of Fahrenheit 451. Mildered is distracted by technology and she feels like that's the only important thing to pay attention to rather than having a conversation with Montag. She enjoys her television a lot and tends to avoid using it to avoid her life. Again the seashell is owned and controlled by the government, to broadcast information to society.
