Family, this word mean a lot father, mother, and siblings. For some, it’s a good thing, they are happy with the protection and care of their families. On the other hand, it’s a bad thing for some because they aren’t happy they suffer from their families. Usually if you have a caring and loving family, you will grow up as a good person, but if you have a harsh and uncaring family you will not grow up normally and you will be broken. The family is one of the most important aspects of a person’s life and one of the most important factors in determining how a child turns out as an adult. Children upbringing is important because if a child grows up and he is raised well he will become an effective and helpful member to the community, but if he grows up and he is raised badly he will become bad and unhelpful to the community, so upbringing children and dealing with them in a good way determine their identity and their future if they grown-up. …show more content…
One of those environment is the family. He described four different levels of the environment that effect children's life, the microsystem level, the mesosystem level, the exosystem level, and the macrosystem level. A child’s environment mostly consists of a child’s family and school. That seems small but there are a lot of factors that are within those two areas. (Johnson, 2016). The first question that I ask myself is what is the environment?

“Family” is a hard word to create a concrete definition for. If one were to ask three random people on the street, it is likely they will receive three completely different answers to defining a family. The textbook definition of family according to the etymology dictionary is: “Origin in early 15c. “servants of a household” from Latin familia “family servants, domestics collectively, the servants in a household.” The traditional dictionary describes family in a more narrow fashion stating, “a basic social unit consisting of parents and their children, considered as a group, whether dwelling together or not.”
Children look to their parent’s guidance and development. Parents are the first example and if the family environment is not healthy, the children could be subjected to a lacking strong physical development. “Effective parenting skills are fundamental to child development” (The Chief Public Health Officer 's Report, 2008). Children learn from their environment, if a child’s parent is not in the picture, children will learn from what surrounds them. For example, Genie did not speak because she was never spoken to as a child.
The microsystem includes the interactions and relationships that children have with their instant environments (Berk, 2000). Arrangements in the microsystem include family, school and the neighbourhood. Children are watchfully tangled in proximal connections with familiar people (family members). At this level, relationships have influence in two directions - both away from the child and to the child. For example, a child’s parents may influence his/her beliefs and behaviour; however, the child also influences the behaviour and beliefs of his/her parents.
Family is characterized with common aspects such as parents, grandparents, and siblings but there are so many other ways to distinct family. The word family is commonly defined as a group of individuals that have the same ancestors, and gather for holidays and other special events. This particular definition is true in so many ways, but everyone goes through life with situations that are brought up that bring together or break apart families. When I think about the word family and my experiences I have gone through and I would consider family to have crazy moments, lots of laughter, and unconditional love. Family to me is getting everyone together and having a good time and acting crazy with your loved ones, making memories.
According to Dictionary.com, family means a group of persons who form a household under one head, including parents, children, and servants. According to Google family means, all the descendants of a common ancestor. As one can see, there are many different meanings to family. To me family means support, dysfunctional, love, and friendships. Family is the most important influence on a child’s life.
Having the right knowledge, skills and experience in understanding how children or young people develop are very important tools for early years practitioners. We must put to mind that each child born to this world is unique; they are born with different characters and their personalities and behaviours are formed and influenced by variety of factors. These factors may affect their ways of interacting to the environment and community or setting in which they live in. In my experience as a child care practitioner most of the time, adults mainly focus on the physical development of a child and so quick to base their conclusion or judgement on the physical aspect.

The principles and values relevant to factors which affect a child 's physical and language development, include ensuring that the practice is child centred, as this will result in then being able to reach their full potential while within the setting. One of the first values for when a child 's development has been affected, is to put the child first, as we have a duty of care towards them. One way in which we can put a child first, it to ensure that, while they are in the setting, that they get well balanced and nutritional meals, as some families might not be able to afford 3 full meals a day, especially when there are more than one child within. By providing services such as breakfast clubs and free school meals, it means that all children will be getting food which will help with their physical development as they will be getting enough nutrients to fulfil the growth that from their genetics. By putting a child at the centre of care, this could also include using their interests within the setting, as it can help and encourage children to develop their language skills, as they will be more willing to learn.

The social environment at home has a profound impact on how children develop.
