FOR ONE MORE DAY The novel For One More Day by Mitch Albom is a story about family and ghosts. The combination of both may seem unusual but like what Mitch Albom says in this novel, “Every family is a ghost story…” The book is actually dedicated to the writer’s mother, Rhoda Albom, which is very appropriate as it is mainly about the power of a mother’s love. It is a story of a mother and son and their relationship that goes beyond lifetime. It started when a writer met a guy named Charles “Chick” Benetto. He was once a professional baseball player who tried to kill himself. However, he was unsuccessful in both. Charles told the writer his story about how he tried to kill himself, why he tried to kill himself and most importantly, what exactly happened when he tried to kill himself. The book, Ghost, by Jason Reynolds is a story about a boy named Castle, but is called Ghost. Castle has a very rough life because his father is imprisoned and his mother struggles with finances. Castle is a misbehaved kid who struggles in school and makes a track team which motivates him to be good in school. Track played ended up playing a huge role in his life and went through the ups and downs with him. Track taught him respect and discipline which spread throughout his home.

Every single one of those roles has different responsibilities. The father, according to most of society, is supposed to be the breadwinner for the family. However, nowadays the mother is actually quite capable of being the breadwinner just as much of as the father. As they work to show their children what it is to be an adult they are teaching them as well on how to be an active member of society.
