My family's artifact has a lot of value because of its age and meaning. It came from my grandfather after the war. This artifact is a certificate of appreciation and was signed by the president. This certificate was sighed and given to him in 1972. He was appreciated for involving himself in the military and risked his life for our country. At this time in my life I didn't realize the significance of these symbols, but as I have grown older I have realized the significance of what my grandfather did. I remember as a young child walking past the Vietnam Memorial happily looking for my grandfathers name only to find “Carl Taylor” was no where to be found. Today, I am now ecstatic that my grandfather was one of the lucky ones to not have his names etched in that granite for eternity. My grandfather is the finest man I know and is the only true father figure in my life, and I know he was spared for a reason. Much like that
Wheatley knows the appreciation and understanding he has for this country because he is a veteran. So it 's only right that we appreciate and gain a new understanding for them as well. Respecting them and simply saying thank you when we see them is a
My cultural artifact is the historical marker placed in front of the 122 Commerce Street Montgomery Alabama that functioned as a slave warehouse in the past owned by John Murphy but is now functions as a headquarter for EJI. Consider using a photo of them in their uniform so that others will know that they are a war veteran, even if they are just passing by the headstone and take a quick glance. Select A Shape For The Headstone Another option is to select a shape for the headstone that will show that they once served their country. This can be done by selecting a headstone that is in the shape of a flag, with the etchings also showing the stars and stripes to really make it stand out.
It not only honors the lost, but it makes war seem so much more bleak and saddening. Maya Lin did a great job designing a memorial for the Vietnam War. It was functional, simplistic, and made us really think deep down about what war can do to people, not just those killed but the many of us affected
Then he retired in July. He had to have 33 surgeries to be able to keep his badly injured leg. The Medal of Honor is the nation’s highest military honor and is given for “meritorious conduct [that] must involve great personal bravery or self-sacrifice as conspicuous as to clearly distinguish the individual above his or her comrades and must have involved risk of life. Thank you Veterans Veterans do a lot for us by defending our country and our home. We thank them by having a full day dedicated to our veterans. Three reasons that I think veterans should be thanked for are; going out to defend our country when no ones else does, I also want to thank you for demonstrating a great work ethic and doing all of this work for people you don’t even know. The first thing I want to thank you for was for defending our country.
Whether it is having a moment of silence, or just thanking a veteran, it is important that we do something. They sacrificed a lot for us, and we need to show our appreciation. Memorial day and Veterans day get confused, Memorial day is honoring veterans who have passed away, Veterans day is to honor ALL veterans. They risked or even lost their lives for us and for our country. We need to show them that what they did for us
who are wounded by an instrument of war in the hands of the enemy and posthumously to the next of kin in the name of those who are killed in action or die of wounds received in action." By falsely claiming to have earned such a prestigious award, Fields reveals that he is attempting to gain the respect and honor associated with the Purple Heart. Furthermore, many veterans receive military discounts in various restaurants and other businesses out of respect for their feats. Although this was not the case since Fields was not applying this claim to a monetary benefit, there is still a reputable benefit that accompanies the claim.
When citizens of the United States stare up at their national flag - the 13 stripes and the 50 stars that represent the freedom their ancestors fought tooth and nail for - they probably fail to remember the lessons they were taught in school about the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and the world wars. In these wars, men fought for their country’s freedom, tossing their own life behind them. Should the country that is being protected by brave men and women ignore their efforts and their struggles? No, and if they were to, they would have to hold no pride for their country, and even less for the struggles of their ancestors. One way America honors veterans is Veteran’s Day.

I just want to thank our veterans for everything that they have done. In this essay I am going to write about what I am grateful for, how hard it is to be away from your family, the sacrifices that I think they have made, what they are doing for our country, and some facts. I think this will be a good topic for me because my great grandpa fought in World War 2. I will never forget him. So I hope you like it
Genograms are a great way to organize different subtypes of your family. You can organize a genogram with generations, authority, power, and age. When I organized my family in these groups I realized that age sometimes does not correlate to how much power the family member may have. I thought I knew everything about my family members and their roles but, after doing this assignment it made me make better conclusions why some people have more say than other do in the family. Genograms also helps make connections why you are not as close to some family members but closer to others.
The sentimental value comes from personal experience, my grandpa who I had witnessed being healthy for many years, was diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to have surgery. He lost so much weight and struggled to move for over a year, seeing how much he suffered made me want to get into the medical field and help others that are dealing with the same experience. As I searched the branches of the medical field, I found Anesthesiologist to be the most interesting. After doing some research, the stories on how patients have woken up during surgery and felt pain but could not say anything broke my heart to pieces. This impacted me emotionally due to the sensitive person I am at heart.
