The most important decision made by the couples is the fertility decision. Household decision about fertility decides family size which influence the household require for goods, the supply of labour to the market, and the production of household goods. Family size has an effect on the allocation of resources within the household. Individual’s judgments about the number of children also conclude the size of future generations of workers and consumers, therefore, affecting an economy’s development. The observed literature on fertility shows that a couple’s preferred family size is powerfully related to a variety of socio-economic factors. These include education, income, age at marriage, religion, employment, and assets. The majority of studies …show more content…
Fertility is one of the most important factors, essential for continuance of human being life on ground and donates intensively in population expansion with the decline of desirable mortality. Analysis of Fertility is very important for the policy makers to get direction for programs concerned to family planning. It is also helpful in evaluation of such programs that base on the results of analysis. The analysis of fertility is evenly significant for both economically under-developed and developed nations. It is essential for the developed countries where fertility has arrived at below substitute level; the condition is generating the difficulty of lack of man-power in the labour-market. On the other side many developing are facing the problem of rapid population growth that is above the replacement level of fertility. These countries are confronted with the problem of scarce resources to meet the growing demand of population. In Pakistan the rapid population growth is creating a great hindrance to the social and economic progress of the country.

Pakistan is at the early stage of change from the past two decades (Buriro and Ali, 2008). The average of more than six children per women has begin to turn down in 1980’s (Sultan and Arnold, 1992; Alam and Feeney, 2003). Rapid population created great hindrance to social and economic progress of country. Realizing the adverse consequences of rapid population growth, A Population Welfare Programme was first launched in early 1960’s. But Pakistan is still far away from success. Average number of children ever born has declined to 3.87 according to PDHS 2006-07 which was 4.1 (as cited in Hashmi and Zafar, 1997) in 1990-91 PDHS. Currently Government is facing the severe shortage of resources in energy sector (gas, electricity) which cause load shedding. Most part of resources is consumed to fulfill the requirements of increased population and less is utilized for productivity purpose. Shortage of food grains has also risen to its crucial level. Siddiqui (1985) had pointed out that agriculture production has decreased even in those areas where it was in abundance in the past. Livestock production has also decreased. With this rapid population growth, it will become hard to meet the growing demand of food. Decline in population growth is national concern of Government to sustain the socio-economic development. Government is trying to commence and regulate various birth control
“The Planned Child”is a poem about a girl who wishes that she had been conceived unplanned, rather than planned. “Conceived in heat, in haste, by mistake, in love,in sex, on cardboard, the little x on the rising line that did not fall again.” (Lines 6-9) The second paragraph of the poem the girl is sharing a glass of wine with a friend when the girl realizes the affection with which she was considered far exceeds her desire to have been imagined in “haste” or “by mistake”. Sharon Olds uses tone and attitude to describe the speakers attempt to deal with feeling unloved leading to wish that she was unplanned.
It is not that Latina women have higher fertility rates, but rather that the Latino population has a younger age structure in which there are five times more children under 15 years old than persons 65 and older while among the white population the share of children and elderly is equal (Saenz,
(OI) As the population grows faster and faster, the earth cannot keep up. The impact of population growth on society can present itself in several ways. The maximized demands on resources led to conflict and scarcity. The increased demand for housing, food, and other goods led to price increases and economic problems.
Nowadays, it’s more common to see both parents be the source of income, which is a good thing because equal sharing is tied with marital satisfaction. It also seems like both parents have at least a high school diploma in our current generation. Obviously the more education you have, the better pay and knowledge you get so this can only benefit the spouses. Furthermore, parents look as though they’re having less children at this present time. Long ago having kids was beneficial, but now it seems to be an economic liability and so parents prefer not to have as many children.
Halfway through the depression, a great percentage of men were jobless and simply unable to care for their numerous offspring and wives. According to “Changing Attitude”, unplanned pregnancies were more a burden on many poor couples and it got harder on the husbands as their wives continued to get pregnant. Consequently, families got introduced and practiced to birth control to plan their family size based on their financial condition. With time, more and more Americans learned about birth control and the great depression was their motive to start practicing family planning as an acceptable way of limiting the number of children. They treated it as a way to manage and put an end to the overpopulation and save many poor families from the obligation of financially taking care of unwanted and unexpected children.

Problem Statement With the advancing lifestyles and further developments in personal mobility that defines today’s society, the family still plays a crucial role of contemporary life. Families offer many benefits such as companionship, protection, security, encouragement and other relative social components. The term family has been changed over the past few decades. The total number of households in the United States increased from 63 million in 1970 to 113 million in 2008 (Weeks, 2012). The traditional structure of the family (nuclear family) began branching to other structures especially in the United States follow World War II.
Thankfully, this problem is solvable by humans, given that a few things change. Educating people more brings awareness to the perils of overpopulation. Also if there is more widespread acceptance and easily accessible contraceptives would slow down the average birth rate. Finally, the government could intervene to stop too many children from being born. While overpopulation is a very complicated international problem, if we as a human race start taking initiative to try to improve this situation, we will surely be able to stop the overpopulation that destroys our natural
Yet, this is not the only way to limit the population growth. There are many scientists who believe that sterilization is the best form of action, and instead of producing your own children, adopting is better. Not to mention cheaper. (Cascadia Gedden, Overpopulation Threatens the
The given table shows information about the changes in the number of children that Australian women in 40-44 age group had between 1981 and 2006. It can be clearly seen from the chart that there was a tendency towards fewer offspring and that having two children was the most popular choice. In the given period, over half of 40-44 year old Australia women gave birth to two to three kids. Although the percentage of women who were mother of two went up over time, there was a gradual decrease in the proportion of those who had gone into labor three times.
Overpopulation Overpopulation is a condition that is undesirable. Overpopulation is one of the problems that people concern it to. One of the serious countries facing this problem is China. Reports in China show that it has about 1.4 billion people in this country; it takes about one over seven people of the world population. China is the third largest land after Russia and Canada in the world.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Context According to Library of Philadelphia "mash-up novels combine literary classics (or historical figures) with anything". The “anything” in this case are zombies. When presented with the title of this parody novel, one might immediately wonder why the author chose zombies of all the possible literary monsters. Setting aside the popularity of the "undead" among the modern society, this choice is not that very far-fetched, considering the time Austen lived in.
American Families Today The American family has undergone many changes since the 1900’s. More so, in the past 40 years, the nuclear family seen dramatic changes and has been described as deteriorating. There has been a dramatic rise in divorce, single parent households and child poverty. Studies have shown that children growing up in poverty-stricken single parent households are more likely to be affected well into adulthood. While this is the case, people are also living longer, and families are accommodating this change by living with relatives allowing for more bonding time then in previous generations.
Would enacting a worldwide family planning policy, such as the one in china, provide a suitable and long term solution to human overpopulation? The future human population size is a growing concern amongst many of the current population size. As the number of people grow, so do the resources need to keep all those people alive, and in turn so do the effects humanity has on the earth. One option to keep the population in check is the fairly infamous One Child policy put forth by China. With each family reduced to having only one child, population was bound to fall as time moved on.
In the past century, the globe’s population has expanded rapider than ever in human history. Facing this population boom, scholars in the past few decades have discovered certain problems of overpopulation. Many of them put their focus on China, the country with the world’s largest number of population, which was having difficulties in development after the Cultural Revolution along with the massive, almost incontrollable large number of ever-growing population. To solve this problem, the Chinese government established the well-known one child policy, which played a huge impact throughout the past three decades. Although population growth rate has now been controlled, the problem of overpopulation is not yet resolved, and the policy has brought in many social and economic problems.
