The author wrote half a page dedicated to describing the monster features. The thing represents the war. If you think about it the growing up during the war time makes those children innocence die within themselves. Instead of worrying about what game to play with their friends they’re stuck worrying if their families would still be alive. The universal truth would be the war that was going on around them at the time.
The message being portrayed by Ishmael is the rapid transition from joy to terror. In a matter of seconds, the lives of thousands of citizens were ruined as a result of the civil war breaking out. The child that Ishmael was before the breakout of the war greatly contrasts the soldier that the war molded him into which shows how much such of an effect such an event can have on someone
in this short story, the author would like to denounce firstly the war and the conditions of leaving that known soldiers. Moreover, this story underlines the importance at this time of the duty in terms of the family. In fact, Druse, a young man has to leave his family to defend his state and at the end of the story, he kills his father under the pressure of the duty. Then, we can say that the duty has clearly a destructive power over family and a negative impact on relationships and life. Indeed, family is less important than military duty at this
However, according to Elie Wiesel's speech called, "The Perils of Indifference," he set forth, "every minute one of them dies of disease, violence, famine. Some of them -- some many of them -- could be saved." If people didn't show indifference towards matters that they could handle, it causes innocent people to die. People from all around the world are dying on things
Creon disagrees strongly and becomes inflamed towards Haemon. Another flaw of Creon is that he is a hypocrite who does not stick to his own words, thus perjuring himself. In his initial speech he says “ - a man who does not take the best advice there is - such a man is the very worst of men and always will be.”. But later in the play Creon doesn’t listen to the advice of those around him, in the most basic sense he is saying that he is the worst of men. These tragic flaws work against him as the story progresses.
Society was cruel through their lifestyles. Different people at these time were treated badly because of their age, race and gender. In the bunkhouse Carlson wants to kill Candy’s dog because of its stinking the bunkhouse. “ Well I can’t stand him in here,” said Carlson “That stink hangs around even after he’s gone.” He walked over with a heavy-legged stride and looked down at the dog. “Got no teeth he’s all stiff, he ain’t no good for you Candy” Before winning the fight and quickly says to the dog “come, on, boy.” This tells us by Carlson saying “Got no teeth he’s all stiff” tells us that Carlson thinks that if something is old and can’t take care of it’s self it should be killed.
Kreon does not believe Polyneices deserves a proper burial for Polyneices was not noble in Kreons eyes. Polyneices was fighting against Thebes and causing terror. He does not want to give him a proper burial, as shown in the quote “...Polynecius, who died as pitiably - Kreon has proclaimed that his body will stay unburied, no mourners, no tomb, no tears, a tasty meal for the vultures” (Sophocles 22). Antigone is distraught at the thought of her brother being left to be “a tasty meal for the vultures” and soon vows to bury him regardless of the law. Antigone exhibits Fairness by wanting all other aspects to be thrown aside and give her brother a fair right to a proper
(Tolstoy E.750) Ivan Ilych doesn’t appear to have any sympathy for his wife or his newborn child. Instead, they’re a bother to him, and interfere with his ordered and pleasant life. His relationship with Hassan degraded. Amir was too ashamed of what he had done to face Hassan and avoided him at all costs. One day he even suggested to Baba that they get new servants. He is always in the quest of redemption in some way or the other. He avoids Hassan at times and talks rudely to him just to make Hassan hate him, He wanted Hassan to detest him, some hurt him so he is able to free himself from his guilt, he even urges Hassan to throw pomegranates at him. Amir also asks Baba to replace the servants and when Baba denies to do so he places the money he got on his birthday under Hassan’s mattress to make him go away because he was not able face Hassan everyday as it reminded him about his failure as a friend and as a man for which he is guilty even after years so as to find redemption he places some money under the mattress at Farid’s house on learning that the boys who he thought were looking at his watch were actually staring at the food which he was eating. ; “Earlier that morning when I was certain no one was looking . I did something I had done 26 years earlier.
All of this is conveyed by the passages,”A long way Gone,” and, “Babes in arms.” The war had disastrous effects on Ishmael. Can you imagine returning home to find your family and house in a burning mess. This is what happened to ishmael. The war killed his immediate family. This is what i observed in paragraph 2 of , "A long way gone, "when it states, "Why have i been the only one to survive the war?
