Designers need to communicate their ideas to others. But these ideas can be fluid, vague, provisional, and involve a mixture of degrees of detail and levels of abstraction(Eckert, McFadzean, & Martin, 2016).
Who is a fashion designer?
A fashion designer is seen as a creative individual who will acquire and utilize knowledge by using their intelligence to form concepts.
Fashion designers are used to the old ways thus sketching on paper.
Sketches are both a tool and a source of confusion for conveying provisionality and uncertainty. Even though sketch brings the ideas of the designers the appearance of the sketch may have some roughness and might be misinterpreted. With this one could say sketch is ambiguous.
Fashion design software have become one of the sought after artefact in the fashion industry. Fashion industry has been in transition over the last 270 years.
The manufacturing has undersized artefact lifespan cycles, fabulous artefact variety, volatile and unpredictable demand, and long and fixed supply process (Sen, 2007).
According to the oxford dictionary the concept of design was used in 1588 for the first time. Design is a plan or scheme devised by a person for something that is to be realized.
The fashion design software came into existence in the 19th century. A software like CAD (computer –aided design or computer –aided drafting) came into existence in 1985. CAD is the use of computer system to aid in the creation, modification, analysis or optimization of a design(Narayan K & Duggal, n.d.).
