Performance sportswear has become increasingly sophisticated in detail and styling, advancing from the swift developments in fibre and fabric technology and modern garment construction methods. Authentic sportswear brands, created by sports practitioners, function effectively but have often lacked aesthetic awareness and style (McCann, 2005). The sportswear and fashion merge supports innovative decision making in the sourcing and selection of appropriate materials for the development of clothing which functions, looks good and also addresses the cultural demands of particular consumers. Recently sportswear has become a driving force for new trends in fashion. Sportswear has recently seen a transition into fashion wear that is worn for ‘purely aesthetic or comfort reasons by people not taking part in any physical activity’ (Barton, 2015).
Feminism has changed the society in numerous ways, discrimination against women and gender inequality in workplaces were reduced. Women's wages are raised, employability rate has risen, and policies were brought into place to protect them and their rights. Concurrently, it has also brought about negative effect such as low birth rate and maternal
An example of how complex the fashion laws could become is shown through how “Gentlewomen attendant upon duchesses, marquises, countesses may wear, in their liveries given them by their mistresses, as the wives of those that may depend £100 by the year and are so valued ut supra” (Alchin 1). These laws that determined this fashion era, although elaborate, created a simple wardrobe for many people. The government controlled what types of clothing each class could wear, which further divided the people of Elizabethan England. Clothes within the Elizabethan time period were influenced by restrictions and sumptuary laws that were placed on genders and various social
When mass media products flourished and proliferated in the advent of technological advancements and discoveries, it paved way for new lifestyle, job market and consumerist culture. More than just entertainment that assumes a form of escapism for the consumers; mass media produce a ‘new’ culture. The production of mass media products like, news in printed form, radio broadcasting, music production, films, comics, and fiction shapes our culture, consciousness. Although many of these mass media products are mass-produced, still many films are unwatched, published books, newspapers and novels went unread. Hence, is noteworthy to be reminded that not all mass culture is popular (Levine 1992, 373).
Here there is a need to clear the terms “fashion “and “body image as used in this paper. Fashion refers to any style or practice that gains popularity among the masses, Most commonly this term is used with reference to style of dressing, the latest looks , accessories and even acceptable mannerisms. If it is possible I also want to take one or two classes of Architecture or Industrial Design. Also, I want to join at least one club at Tunghai University. In order to improve my Chinese, I will try to live like a Taiwanese during the exchange program by having Taiwanese friends, listening Taiwanese music or reading Taiwanese book. The last time I live in Taiwan, I spend a year in Taipei. However, this time will be in Taichung, so I am also very curious about the difference between lifestyle in Taipei and Taichung.
This Texas Government course is my first online class and also my first Honors class in college. I am aware that online courses may require students to do discussion boards or group projects or any other assignments that encourage interactions among students. Although this class was about Texas Government, I was looking forward to discussing the presidential election that was held during throughout the semester. Last spring semester, I took GOVT 2305 - the Federal Government- and found myself involved in discussions and debates.
