I am a person who is not very involved in fashion. I appreciate fashion and find it interesting, but my life choices are never dictated by what is in style or what a celebrity wears. I do not follow the fashion trends, but I am not an innovator of fashion either. I wear the same clothing for years and my closet is generally uninteresting. My moral standards on fashion are limited, mostly because I feel slightly uneducated about the fashion industry. I am aware that some companies abuse their workers overseas, and I am against this practice, but I find it difficult to identify the companies that do this. If a clothing item is not comfortable, I will not buy it, even if it is very fashionable. The next most important aspect to me is price. New fashion trends are usually more expensive because everyone wants them. This discourages me from buying them. I would rather spend less money and wear something out of style. I never buy clothing just because it is popular or in style. Because of this, I would consider myself generally uninvolved when shopping for fashion pieces. I am not looking for fashionable clothing – I am looking for the best quality clothing I can buy at the lowest price, regardless of how popular it is. So, while I am involved with the price and comfort, I am uninvolved with the aspect of whether it is fashionable or not. Although I knew before this class that I was not very involved in fashion, I realize now that I have no knowledge about the fashion industry or people’s fashion shopping habits as a whole. I have never before considered whether I was an impulsive or compulsive shopper, so it was interesting to think about what I would rate myself. The same is true for the other topics. I hope to learn more about moral and ethical issues surrounding fashion, since I can use this knowledge to better my shopping habits and decisions in the
