For example in stanza 3 line 3 it states, “They are prisoners of speed who flee in what they have made.” This means that drivers have to go fast which is dangerous and also implies that the driver is an auto-industry worker. The theme of “Highway: Michigan” is how dangerous driving and working in a factory has become. The workers entire lives revolve around the car. They work all day making them, then they drive home in them. They have no escape from them except death.
By saying, “Dave didn’t drive the longest lasting most dependable truck on the road. Dave drove a Ford”, it implies that Dave driving a Ford is the reason why Dave did not survive the Mayan apocalypse. This comment adds fuel to the fire between the debate of which is the better American made truck company Chevy or Ford. After, the Ford comment the African American man offers the protagonist a Twinkie. This gesture is another slap to the face of Ford implying that Twinkies have a better chance of coming back on the store shelves (commercial made during Twinkie bankruptcy) and surviving the Mayan apocalypse than a Ford truck.
The mega tunnel shook with great distress as trucks ran back to the Mexico border. The grey walls and dim lighting cast eerie shadows along the wall, as both lanes were moving away from the U.S. All Cato could do is slow the troops down. He went over to an old wood support beam that had the same color as the walls, his jeep sat idle as he rigged its winch to the base. With one pull from the vehicle, the base slipped right out and fell onto the roadway. Cato un-hooked and jumped back in the jeep, racing to catch up with the immigrants.
I paced my brother, as he drove his big-boy batman trike. I was riding my Little Tikes trike, one that was not in any fashion intended to keep up with my brother’s brisk, delicate maneuvers; nonetheless, I continued driving right behind him. We were driving around an island that spanned across the enormous parking lot. The island had trees and bushes all throughout, and the parking lot could seat hundreds of cars with ease. One side of the parking lot was downhill at a thirty to forty degree angle.
Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken with “10 Cloverfield Lane” was a similar movie sci-fi hit movie “Cloverfield”. It all starts off with Michelle drive away from her ex-husband till she gets into a car accident and which she awakens to shackle and an IV into her arm while she’s held captive in a bunker by two men, who claims that the outside world is affected by a chemical mass attack. This apocalypse thriller movie about a possible attack was okay a plot and had its own nerve wrecking scenes. This movie was definitely exhilarating to watch. The title brought back memories about “Cloverfield” which seemed to be a sequel which it wasn’t.
By presenting the Jeep Wrangler in the climbing position, it appears powerful, like the painting of Napoleon’s horse crossing the Alps. Its superiority over other car brands is shown as the burnt car (the competitor) is crushed underneath the strong, superior Jeep Wrangler. Because the audience of this advertisement is at the age where they might be looking towards buying a new car, Jeep aims to prove their Jeep Wrangler to be the best choice in
In his song, “One Piece at a Time”, Johnny Cash sang, “The first year they had me putting wheels on Cadillac’s. Every day I 'd watch them beauties roll by and sometimes I 'd hang my head and cry, because I always wanted me one that was long and black.” In the song, he explains how he plans to steal a Cadillac by taking it piece by piece from the factory he works at. Later in the song, he is caught driving this car and it does not go too well for him. This example may be a bit funny, but there are examples of greed destroying lives. These examples occur in the story “King Midas”, the poem “Avarice”, and the story “The Necklace”.
The pace car pulls away from the track and a thunder of high speed cars approaches the first turn. The noise of the cars blows my dad and me away but yet it is very familiar to us. Each lap is exhilarating with leader changes and multiple crashes at the first turn. The pit stops are ruthless and drivers take chances that have a great risk of ending their day racing. Every lap my Dad and I check to see how many positions Sage Karam has gone up and eventually the last lap reveals the new champion.
My mom was the driver and Mia and I were sitting in the backseat. My mom took a right turn on a green light. Because we got hit from behind, we didn’t see what happened. Meanwhile the bystanders said a little brown car came speeding through a red light, ran into a big silver truck and then ricocheting off of that hit us from behind. Let me tell you though the impact felt like a herd of elephants running over you.
