“Out!” the umpire yelled to the crowd. My team cheered and ran into the dugout after that third out. I was the second person up to bat. The score was 0-2 we were down but we are to hyped up and ready to win this game. The championship.
"And next up is little Alexander Stroble", the speakers blare. He wobbles up to the plate, the helmet on his head making him unbalanced with each step. With the bat in his hand and the ball in his eyesight, he was ready to hit the best homerun of his life. His coach throws him a level pitch and he swings, and misses. "Strike one" ,the umpire yells, but that doesn’t phase him; he knows he has two more tries. On the next one, he swings and hits, but it wasn’t the exact home run he was looking for.
The twins had jumped out to a lead early on, and the fans were especially excited. The place was never quiet as the fans were all having a great time. As one of the more hated players in all of baseball, Alex Rodriguez, came up to bat the fans kept booing him. As they did this every time he came up to bat. Unfortunately for the Twins he hit three home runs in the same game, and lead the yankees to a 9th inning comeback win.
This situation is so important for the fans and anyone that follows this sport. It is more important for the youngest players that grow up watching and playing baseball, admiring professional players like Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds and Sammy Sosa. These are some of the big names that appear in the book published by an ex-player, Jose Canseco, implicating them that they had used steroids in the past. Since then, the commissioner of MLB, Bud Selig, issued a tougher steroid policy, which says “‘three strikes and you 're out approach’ which goes as follows: The first positive test would result in a fifty game suspension. The second positive test would result in a one-hundred game suspension.
On Wednesday, July 22th the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves to avoid being swept. Dodgers pitcher Mike Bolsinger relied almost exclusively on his curveball, which frustrated the Braves enough into yelling that Bollinger wasn 't courageous enough to use his fastball. The Atlanta braves got the first run of the game in the third inning when Cameron Maybin drove in a run with a groundout. Braves pitcher Julio Theheran struck out 7 of the first 10 batters he faced until running into problems in the fifth inning. Yasmani Grandal led off the inning with a double, then Alberto Callaspo singled driving in Grandal.
If there is one thing I hate it has to be losing. With that thought pumping threw my brain, it drove me to train harder than I have ever before. Every day and night I did, 1000 push-ups for more power. After my morning push-ups, I would go outside to a fence post with a tire tied around it and practice my bat speed and batting footwork. Sometimes when my dad comes home on time I can go to the batting cages ,and work on my soon to be perfect swing.
The DH causes opportunity and weaknesses to be hidden. Removing the DH and requiring all pitchers to hit, increases the chances of possibly seeing a pitcher combine pitching greatness with batting exploits and accomplish something amazing for everyone to see. In baseball there is this thing called a free agent. It is when your contract expires for the team you are with and you get offers from other teams to play for them. If the DH would be taken away and they learn to hit, the pitcher would have to hit and this could allow them to become huge prospects in the off season during free agency.
My personal Artifact is a baseball my son and I caught at the Giants game. It is white, round, has red stitches, and is smooth when new, but when we caught it it was beat up and the blue writing on it was smeared. A baseball is small and light in size. It can be thrown at speeds up to 100 MPH, or hit at at speeds higher than 100MPH, so when playing the game or watching you should be paying attention at all times. A baseball is made of a rubber or cork center, wrapped in yarn very tight, covered by white leather with red stitching around the out side, making it a very hard ball.
First of all, the pitcher, and catcher are the ones in control of the game. The pitcher tries to throw a strike without the hitter hitting the ball. The catcher catches the pitchers throws, and also gives the signs to the field from the coach. Also, the infield`s job is to knock down everything that comes its way. If the ball is hit they field the ball or catch a ball that does not travel to the outfield.
Finally, the first World Series baseball game has begun. The first guy came up to the plate. I could not be happier. The first pitch was a strike. Then the 2nd pitch was a strike and the batter swung and missed.
We lost our mojo a little bit when they scored four runs heading into the last inning. I was playing shortstop; Brandon struck the first and second kids out. He was throwing gas as he just blew his fastball by the first two hitters. The ball hitting the glove sounded like a shotgun. We only needed one more out to win a state title.
The thrill starts to die off, as the buzzer sounded to signify that it was the end of the ninth inning. In baseball, concepts such as friction, Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion, and projectile motion continue to astonish fans today. “Friction is a force that opposes motion between two surfaces that are touching” (fill in later). When a baseball player strikes the ball, the first thing that comes to their mind is to score. An example is after they
Pulling up to the field, greener than ever, lights were shining, I didn 't feel good but I wouldn’t miss baseball for my life! We were playing the best team in the league so I was kind of nervous. As we were playing catch, the coach announced the batting lineup and my name came second! I was batting second, I couldn’t believe it, maybe coach had some faith in me after all. Chill had rushed through my spine and throughout my body.
Paintball is one of the fastest growing sports currently in the world. Although to some it is considered almost obscure, or inappropriate because of the sport being referred to as a war game. Are you one of the millions of people who have experienced the adrenalin rush of running through streams of flying paintballs? If not perhaps your issue is with safety? The U.S. Consumer Product Safety commission ranks paintball as “safer than bowling.” Paintball is the number one sport I would recommend to anyone for a great day of fun, but beyond the fun of a weekend recreation at the local paintball field lies the tournament series of paintball.
