Minority Report What is fate? Are we born destined to great things or we achieve great things from our hard work? Are bound to our destiny, or we write our own destiny? Is our future unchangeable? The movie Minority Report has many themes, such as people aren’t who they appear to be, nothing is perfect, and others. The most important theme of this movie is that our future, destiny, fate is it not unchangeable, it is not written in stone. For we have the ability to choose what path we take in life, we have the ability to write our own future.
John Anderton is the chief of a special police task force, which was formatted with the apparition of the pre-cogs called Pre-Crime. The pre-cogs had the ability to see crimes that happen in the future.

Later on his friend Fletcher says “Don’t do it, Hey don’t do this. John don’t run.” John replies “you didn’t have to chase me”, and Fletcher replies “you don’t have to run” (0:48:29 -0:51:41). On this scene both Fletcher and John made their choices, just like Fletcher said John didn’t have to run, and the other way around is also true Fletcher didn’t needed to chase John. Both of them choose to do what they thought was the right choice, they decided. It wasn’t an order but a decision they made of their free will. As the conversation turns into a fight, Johns manage to escapes his crew. The background sound before the conversation is of sirens, and then it slowly fades away and the sound becomes suspenseful and darker and darker until when the sound of a dog appears and it becomes a fast paced dark music with a lot of noise from the …show more content…
The director used the background sound and many filmmaking stiles in a matter whereas to fill the audience with mystery, suspense and drama thought the movie. The main theme was a challenge to understand in the beginning of the movie, but as the movie moved along towards the end it became clearer and clearer. This movie had many themes some are related to free will, other are moved towards the idea that nothing is perfect. Although the many themes the theme that from the begging towards the end that appeared over and over again, was that we make our own destiny, we choose where life takes us, nothing is set in stone for we are free to decide what we
Few problems in philosophy are so well-known and complex such as the notion of free-will and fate. We unconsciously face these concepts throughout our daily life when we come to contact with things that we enjoy, like books, songs or movies. They are also ever present in ourselves, because we always confront with these ideas when we wonder whether we shape our life according to our free will, or we are simply following what some call ‘destiny’ or ‘path set by a Supreme Being’. The different conceptions that we have of these question, are another source of diversity within people.
Everybody has a destiny, but it is not always set in stone. Bad things can happen in our destiny, but we can change our destiny. I have read and see the movie about Bless Me Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya and Whale Rider by Witi Ihimaera. Both stories talk about a kid destiny and what they going to be in the future. Antonio and Paikea find their destinies through their birth, willing to sacrifice and thirst for knowledge.
Mariam-Webster Online Dictionary defines destiny as “what happens in the future: the things that someone or something will experience in the future” ("Destiny." Merriam-Webster). Every individual experiences a different destiny and while some find their destiny easily, others spend their whole lives searching. This can be evidentially seen in Cheryl Strayed’s novel Wild. Wild is a biography of the author’s journey along the Pacific Crest Trail; commonly referred to PCT.
Fate plays a very powerful role throughout the novel; The idea that everything is inevitably planned. In the beginning of the novel John Grady, seems pretty content with the idea of fate, although the belief is somewhat romantic and old fashioned. When things begin to happen to Grady and Rawlins, his view of fate is distorted and he does whatever he can to rage against its laws and create his own fate. Fate to Grady is almost like a religion it pushes him onward despite his troubles. Doña Alfonsa, Alejandra’s aunt, describes the fate with a eerie accuracy, “I thought you didn’t believe in fate.
Within many different creative works such as novels, plays, and movies the creator uses universal themes to depict common experiences. These themes can be easily and effectively seen through the visuals that a movie provides. The motifs that one sees in The Lion King can also be found in a myriad of other works. Through an archetypal lens, The Lion King depicts universal experiences, such as fear and power, that are felt by many characters. One of the main themes seen throughout The Lion King is the concept of fear and overcoming fear.
Inevitable Fate Many literary texts, movies, and novels deal with the theme of fate or destiny. Many films/literary texts change a person's or situation's future near the end of the movie or text when a person or thing purposely changes a specific event. Audiences of these films or readers of these novels may notice a pattern where there is always another result to change the character's or protagonist's fate after they change an event or specific event in the plot.
The 1997 science fiction film ‘Gattaca,’ directed by Andrew Niccol delves into the concept that the human spirit will prevail despite an uncaring fate. Protagonist Vincent Freeman represents powerful notions of perseverance and humanity, and through his victory epitomizes humanity’s triumph over science. Niccol implies that all children deemed Valid do not possess the trait of the human spirit and consequently have no true dreams nor aspirations. Niccol infers that when one knows their predetermined fate, they will not strive to accomplish anything further. When a Valid does not accomplish their predetermined fate they struggle under the burden of perfection.
If there was a way to discover one’s own destiny, would the man avert himself from it, or learn to accept it and go along? In Ted Chiang’s Story Of Your Life, the main character Dr. Louise Banks sees her own fate while doing her work on the alien’s language. Foreshadowing events in her life strongly support the theme “accepting one’s fate” of the story. This is represented by how she foreshadows events she would dislike and events she would find satisfactory.
Fate and Free will are both two ideas that have a questionable outcome. Whether one has free will or fate the outcome for both is unknown until the end. In the Matrix, the computer generated world which humans "live" in, it appears that fate is key. The computer system is prewritten, predesigned, and already programed. However, free will starts to take place in the minds of the individuals who begin to escape.
The film features a majority of A-list celebrities like Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill and David Cross. The themes I chose to correlate with this movie give off a ‘bitter- sweet’ or ‘ironic’ response to the connection. ‘Love Conquers All’ is a romance theme, which talks about how strong love can be. Hence, the name of the theme itself. On the other hand, ‘Good vs. Evil’ is another popular theme as it relates to many superheroes and villain movies.
The most apparent themes in this film are loneliness and isolation. Based on the cinematography, it is evident that wide shots of the characters occupy a small space alone or an extremely large space with many people who are completely unaware of their existence. Both of these things work to portray the idea that Murray's character, Bob, and Johansson's character, Charlotte, are lonely, isolated, and missing something. The director also uses the concept of balance to pass the message on the emotional state of the characters.
Depending on your interpretation of the movie, fate and free will carry different
At the beginning of the film actors name are listed on the screen along with the title of the film all white with black background. The message has shown extremely early in the film which highlights the fact that there is light in the dark showing hope. This shows that director is trying to portrait the message of hope from the beginning of the film. Also, audience get to understand the main theme of "hope."
Also an important thing when he shows us different eras, so we can see the people how they living especialy the children. In one of the eras, the children have hope of change and living a life like any other child, the innocence and childlihood, and in other era like they are okay with that life and can take it as a habit and a way of living if there is no other choice for surviving. So there childlihood and fate are lost in drugs, killing, and so on from the aggressive violent actions, and from the isolation that they grow up
The main motive of the song was to inspire all the students; who lose their heart very quickly and never do hard work, so by listening to this song, it gives the quotes that “never give up” in your life and live your life without taking tension. Like life is a gift, wake up every morning and realize that. This movie is always my favorite because it always motivates me that never give up as well as never lose heart; even in that situation who you can’t
