To avoid the Fatigue Imo implementing many laws where one of the law is MLC-2006. This MLC -2006 came into force on 20th Aug 2013. This law standardized maximum hours of work and minimum hours of rest which are as below: A)Not More than 14 hours of work within 324 hours including not more than 72 hours of work within 7 day period. The IMO established the “International Safety management code-ISM CODE” for the safe management of operation of the ship and pollution prevention. [28]Under this code every ship operator must develop a Safety Management System which will be the rules for the operator and as well as the ship operating under their management. This documents ensure that all the activities in maritime workplace both ashore and the ship are well planned, organized, executed and checked as per the company safety management procedure which based on national and international requirement. This manual must keep on board for the guidance of the ships workers. Also, there will be a designated person in the ashore management office who can be directly contacted by the maritime workers from the vessel and that person will have all the authority to communicate with the highest person in the office without delay. This person ranked as DPA. ISM Code works to improve three important goal which are safety of people on board, safety of the ship and cargo on board and the environmental protection. The shipping company, the governing authority and the ships workforce play a vital rule for implementing the ISM code on board. After confirmation that the company and the ship board system run as per the approved SMS then the designated authority issues the safety management certificate. The SMS consists of various checklist and procedure which need to carry out before commencing of any Job on board. The procedures follows all the local and international law and safety system. Sometimes all these safety procedure comes as a checklist for the designated job so that the workers must record all the stage as per checklist which can work as reminders to the workers if they shortcut the job which may lead to accident.
