“Fear keeps us focused on the past and worried about the future.” The main character of the short story “The Terror” by Junot Diaz would agree with this because he is stuck in a cycle of fear after getting beaten up. He got into a fight with a group of brothers and was paralyzed with fear for a long time after that. The author uses the character's actions and his feelings to show that the only way to conquer fear is to stand up to fear itself.
March 17, 2023 Dear Readers, Fear. Fear is defined as being afraid of someone or something that is likely to be dangerous, painful or threatening. Should you fear your family? Should you fear your own brother?
“The only thing to fear is fear itself.” (Franklin D. Roosevelt). Fear is a commonly confused emotion. Everyone’s response to fear varies. People may pass off fear as other things such as stress, anxiety, and in some cases laughter.
Is fear the only thing to fear? Maybe it is, maybe it is not. Fear is a strong emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Some people use fear to control the people around them. Someone that uses fear to control others is called a demagogue.
Fear can leave you petrified, but hope is the greatest strength that you can possess and hope will always overpower
Humans are born to be afraid. A feeling of fear is only natural for humans to feel; it is a part of who we are. However, it can be more than just a feeling. Fear can be a weakness in humans even though it is only our natural instinct for survival. Sometimes, fear is so powerful that it can blur our rationality and dominate how we think and what we do.
And why this specific fear is happening. That when it comes to fear it is like a story and with
Fear can be very advantageous when it comes to surviving. Fear inhibits you from doing risky actions that can put you and others in danger; it keeps you cautious and careful. Even though fear helps you when surviving, fear can harm you in life. Fear can cause paranoia that keeps you from enjoying life. You start to obsess over minimal things leading to hallucination.
“The only thing we should have to fear is fear itself.” There are so many things, us as humans being feared. We shouldn’t because fearing something that only exists is something that only exists in our heads. I myself have fears just like everyone else.
Fear can be defined as an unpleasant feeling triggered by a situation. It is an emotion encountered by every human being. However, the reactions of people to fear may vary. Indeed, it ranges from the loss of rationality to the capacity of adaptation in extreme conditions. Thus, fear can be perceived as a weapon to control and manipulate society.
It constantly provides caution to different activities and recurring mistakes. Without fear, more people could commit crimes and think it is okay, because they will not fear the punishment that will burden them in the future. On the flip side, fear can distort a person’s mind and have repercussions such as irrational thinking or even death. Fear can resort to paranoia and the lack of sleep. Fear can also restrict new experiences and progress in the world.
Fear is such a powerful thing. Fear can either bestow strength upon you or deprive you of it. Fear kept me from believing in Jay, from unburdening myself of a painful secret. Fear keeps me from a free mindest, corrupting my idea of happiness, thus making me fear happiness itself.
Fear is what you make of it because nothing is inherently scary it is what you take from the object or experience that makes it scary and fills your head with fear. This can have an effect on society and how people and their respective governments react to types of issues and problems. This leads to in extreme cases war and mass murder of a society that is being exploited as a scapegoat. In the book Lord of the Flies the author William Golding suggest the impact fear has on human nature and how it disrupts order and disorder in a society.
Fear huh, what does it mean to you? For me I think fear is some kind of emotional stress. For example you might have a test or quiz in class that you don’t like or not even interested in and the day before this quiz or test we all freak out regarding what’s going to be on the test and what kinds of questions there are going to be. Fear can also be relatable to other situations to, for example the topic says have we become a more fearful society then we use to be? Or we spend too much time in being afraid.
Fear comes from things we do not understand. Humans tend to push things away if they do not understand them, and that is why people do not confront their fears. My worst fear, is being nonexistent. Even though I know it is a natural process of life to die, being forever unconscious is something I hate to think about. Once something dies, it is no longer existent, there is no way to interact with it.
