The charging bull sculpture, sculpted by Arturo Di Modica, on Wall street is a very well-known piece. Earlier this year there was another sculpture placed in front of the charging bull called, "Fearless Girl", sculpted by Kristen Visbal. This sculpture being placed in front of the charging bull has caused some major controversy. Some believe that the fearless girl sculpture needs to be taken down because it takes away from the meaning behind the original sculpture. Others believe that the fearless girl sculpture should be kept because it sends a good message out there for women.
Gradually, public opinion swung in her favor. It would take years of struggle, but women one day would win the right to vote.” This shows courage because Susan knows that it could take years to win the right for women to vote and people would make fun of her, but she knows that one day this nation will win the right for women to vote. Another way that Susan shows courage is when she says, “May it please your honor,” Anthony replied. “I shall never pay a dollar of your unjust penalty. And I shall never earnestly and persistently continue to urge all women… that resistance to tyranny is obedience to God.” Susan shows courage when doing this because she is standing up to the judge and by saying this she could have been put into jail, but she does not care she just wants the same rights for

I find Hepburn fascinating for similar reasons I find Rodriguez. Hepburn challenged the status quo and won. She had an immensely successful career but she didn’t bow to the Hollywood smut machine. When I say this I am talking about her ability to say shove it to all the Hollywood pressure and decrees for women to be dressed and visualized as sex objects. I think it is amazing that Hepburn said no and relied on her amazing natural ability to act to be a successful woman in Hollywood.
Although we see little of her within this episode, her introduction as the Coach of the high school cheerleading team portrays her as an aggressive female, who is strong, bold, and cunning in contrast to the male football coach, Ken, who seems to be disarranged and dimwitted. It seems that Glee challenges the theory that men are stronger than women, and flips the table, enabling the females to have stronger personalities overall. All of the women we are introduced to seem confident and independent in their pursuits, and thus it is fair to believe that the show might be trying to make a point to its viewers, encouraging women to step up, be more confident in themselves, and lead their lives the way they see

BEST PARAGRAPH At the beginning of Oates story, Connie is viewed as a young girl with no cares in the world except for the idea of having physical beauty. Joyce Carol Oates wrote that Connie would “look right through her mother” because “she knew she was pretty and that was everything” (323). By including this, Connie is seen as a self-centered girl who only wants people to speak to her if she will make sure they drown her in compliments. She refuses to retaliate to her mother because her mother just doesn’t understand the “hardships” she has to go through to look attractive. The idea of blocking everyone out helped Connie build her self-confidence.
