In Korea, there is a law of conscription, also known as mandatory military service which means that all the men have to go army for twenty months between ages of eighteen to thirty five. However, Korean society argues that it can cause the idea of feminism. Fact, better most of women have weaker strength then men in the theory of somatology though not all the women are weak and all the men are strong. People argue that this law depreciates women which Korean government should make the solution for it. Compare to Netherland, they give draft notice both to men and women. The Netherland ministry of defense said that “women and men now have about equal education and training levels and equal treatment outweighs balancing disadvantages.”(Netherlands ' military conscription to also include women from 2018.) This quote shows that nowadays men and women both have equal education and training level since they are young which means that by apply same regulation to both men and women it can also eliminate discriminating sexes and women also can get same right from the society. Moreover, Netherland shows that if there is something to change in society, change the government law first which can help to change people’s mind or thoughts. Nevertheless, people know that South Korea and Netherland are in different situation. Netherland has army to protect their nation from other countries or show their power for diplomacy. Military service that that much tough and hard job to men but they have to go because of law. However, the MOGEF claim that government should extend the service period to five years to protect nation. It is been issue because even South Korea is on ceasefire, they do not have war

The military draft was a very controversial topic during these times. Some people believed it violated a person’s inalienable rights while others argued it was a part of being an American to be honored to show your patriotism; however, if you refused to serve, you were shunned and beaten by local villagers (Greenberg). President at the time, “Lyndon Johnson, called the draft "a part of America, a part of the process of our democracy"” arguing that the draft was an honorable and patriotic sacrifice for young men to make for their country (Greenberg). With the major cultural difference between the the 1960’s and today, less young men are enlisting to serve in the military. According to the National Public Radio, an estimated 8.7 million men served during The Vietnam War while only 2.2 million men serve in today’s military.
From the beginning of the United States’ history, conflict has always been prevalent. The need for armed forces continually grows, especially in times of war, as the fight for freedom becomes more challenging. Conscription, better known as the draft, was first introduced during the Civil War as a way to get more individuals involved in the military to fill vacant positions. The practice of the draft was finally discontinued in favor of an all-volunteer military system, when the need for troops was no longer necessary. After almost two decades of being involved overseas, the demand for armed troops is imperative once again.
The military draft has been a controversial topic for many years in American society. The idea of a military draft has drastically changed between World War II and the Vietnam War. During the times of World War II, military service and draft was widely accepted by many Americans. During the World War II era, citizens felt that they had an “unlimited liability to perform military service when required by the state” (James 2). But as time progressed, military service and draft in the Vietnam War, constructed many doubts amongst many Americans.

In Korea nowadays, the personality of a person is not judged based on their sex. Women are not expected to be shy and passive; not all women are clean and organized. Men are not expected to be tough and belligerent; not all men are lazy and disorganized. Although gender expectation greatly impacts the Youngers by categorizing them to superior and inferior, it scarcely affects people’s identity in
They may all force their peers to have a demanding routine but their freedom is in different matter between the two. North Korea allows love relations and family bonding as to “Anthem” only allows to reproduce an offspring but may not allow for the responsibility of them. In the book everyone is equal and must share their equality among their brothers, while everything is devoted to their dictator in North Korea. As to the way everything is formed in Korea must have it isolated and to benefit for only the country. Meanwhile the book states everything is structured for
Due to the Western democratic influence over the southern half of the Korean peninsula, it allowed for South Korea to go under positive reform and development. Democracy empowered people to have a voice in politics and in the way the country should be ran. The transition of governmental system allowed for Korean citizens to participate in electing Presidents through holding “regular, free, and fair elections.” In a sense, it was like proof to the world that Korea was now democratized. Not only did democracy change the authoritative governmental system to a democratic system, but it also allowed for the small country to experience great economical growth.
In North Korea, being in the Mass Games is a huge accomplishment. You train for hours on end so you will look exactly the same, as if you are becoming one. Even the military is so disciplined that they look exactly the same. But, the people in North Korea are different from the citizens in 1984 because they still have individual personalities. The Party convinces these people to all believe the same ideas and have the same opinions.
Women’s responsibilities increased especially at work and war. Women, even today are discriminated because of their gender, so there is still no equality between both genders which should stop. Many women worked in the work force. According to an article, “For the first time, women
Military forces today such as: marines, army, coast guard, and air force have men that choose to fight for our country, risking their lives everyday. There should not be a mandatory military draft due to fact that military deployment should be by choice, not everyone is physically or mentally stable enough to handle the military setting, and if men are forced to be within the military they will not be as dedicated or fight is hard for our country, so the purpose would be defeated. First of all, military
A huge number of the military forces were composed of young students who volunteered in joining the forces thanks to their nationalism. These two recent wars rendered Korea’s sense of identity to be Blood-based and make nationalism an important asset in politics (Shin, 2006, p2). Meaning, in the status quo, it takes more than having a
Despite it obvious advantages, some opponents claim that conscription should not be mandatory because serving in the military can sharply change a man 's identity in ways that can hurt his social ties; it can influence on his relation to family, companions, and coworkers. It may be true that military has impact on the person 's personality, makes little bit tough to deal with him. However, people should realize the fact that dealing with the hard days and wars need brave men that have the ability to face these issues strictly, with courage and without fear. Beside, recruitment period is for a limited time; not exceeding three years term, and after this period expires, the recruiter returns to his social life and relations, also gradually resume his normal attitude in dealing with others. Moreover, it is important to remember that the intent of recruiting is to prepare men psychologically and physically for any
