Utilitarianism, is an ethical theory developed in the modern period by Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832) and John Stuart Mill (1806-73) to promote fairness in British legislation during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries when the interests of the upper classes tended to prevail and the sufferings of the lower classes were neglected. Bentham and Mill extended consideration to all persons--indeed, to all sentient beings--potentially affected by a given action. According to Utilitarianism, our obligation or duty, in any situation is to perform the action that will result in the greatest possible balance of good over evil. What are the strengths of Filipino Values/Morality? As a future teacher, how do you promote these values/norms/moral standards to your future students as part of the moral renewal program implemented by the Philippine Education sector? Explain and site examples.

Strengths of Filipino Values:
• Pakikipagkapwa tao, Filipino are open to others and feel one with others. Regard others with dignity and respect. Filipino deal with them as fellow human being. This is Filipino’s basic sense of justice and fairness, and their ability to empathize with others.
• Family Orientation, Filipinos possess a genuine and deep love for family. Sense of family results in a feeling of belongingness and rootedness in a basic sense of security.
• Resiliency (Joy and Humor), Filipinos have a cheerful and fun loving approach to life and its ups and down. They have a positive view in life’s circumstances.
• Flexibillity, Adaptability and Creativity, Filipinos can easily adjust and adopt to circumstances and the surrounding environment, both physical and social. Filipinos possess tolerance for ambiguity that enables us to remain unfazed by uncertainly or lack of information. Filipinos innate religiosity enables them to comprehend and genuinely accept reality in the context of God’s will and plan.
In line with the Moral Renewal Program which refers to values formation and ethical behavior for government officers and employees, as well as the strengthening of people’s values to achieve zero tolerance for corruption. As a future teacher I can promote this by putting into the minds and hearts of my students these values that has long been possessed by Filipino People and the advantages Filipino experienced having these kinds of values. I will teach them the importance of Family, how to have a positive view in life and nurture their minds about the importance of education for them to succeed in life and to survive.
3. What is the importance of having working knowledge on ethics and ethical theories/framework as a pre-service teacher? Explain and cite examples.
For me it is very important that we have knowledge and learning’s about these things because as a pre-service teacher, there are many obstacles and dilemma that we will have to face. And ethical theories could be a great help in solving these
