August Rush, the Film most people love but no one seems to remember, is a motion picture based around and embodies the idea that music, somehow, almost always finds a way to unite lost ones with whatever or whomever they want to be with. The Film is a drama with a fairy tale-ish twist, where an orphan, who happens to be a musical prodigy, tries to use his gift as a mean to find his parents. The story is not that complicated, and the Film itself is not a stroke of genius, it might even be called mediocre. The acting is genuinely epic, but the whole plot is just all over the place. The realism of most situations is lost the minute August started hitchhiking his way to New York, which is basically right at the start. The majority either like this Film for its heartwarming message or hate it for its improper presentation of musicians and its lack of realism, yet no one seems to comment on its greatest asset: The actual soundtrack, the reason why I chose August Rush to be the first Film …show more content…

Here is where I give immense credit to Meyers for his performance, and bash on Russell for her lack of even knowing how to fake playing a Cello. But since this is an article about the actual soundtrack, I’ll skip that part. Mark Mancina, the main composer and music producer of the Film, went all out on this one. The main soundtrack, where August talks about how he hopes his journey will turn out and how it actually ends, is exactly what you’d imagine a New Classical soundtrack be, with some Ambient pushed under here and there. The ‘real’ main soundtrack and the crown jewel of the Film is August’s Rhapsody. This score has elements from basically the widest range of musical genres I’ve listen to in a while, from exotic instruments, to organic sounds.
