Hitchcock clearly shows many scenes in the film to portray the fear and suspicion that many Americans had after the war. In the film, Hitchcock also uses dramatic events such as the yelling of Mrs. Thorwald or the arguments he had with the NYP policeman, Tom Doyle. These scenes all add to the fear of communism and paranoia that was based on someone’s perspective of the world. In the film, it was illustrated that if you were not friendly towards your neighbors it meant that you were of suspicion. The film also illustrated that the way in which you acted towards other people contributed to the overall suspicion of somebody.

Babel With a hint of Rendition The films Babel (2006) and Rendition (2007) show how paranoia regarding foreigners and terrorism affect innocent lives. There has been a sort of hysteria regarding terrorism in America and unfortunately the faces that have been attached to it are brown. These films are especially relevant to the happenings in America right now with leaders such as Donald Trump expressing Islamophobic views. In Babel, there are different storylines and each of them is tied together with the gun that starts it all.

Two parallel events have shown that Americans are prone to a culture of fear and oppression when face with acts of terror. This culture of fear invaded the minds of government and the people during the first Red Scare and after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 with similar results. Due process and civil liberties were attacked in favor protecting the country. The people blindly followed as the government instituted new laws and policies that encroached on personal freedoms.

In order to better understand the correlation between The Crucible and to Joseph McCarthy’s claims, we must better understand the accusations of McCarthy. Joseph McCarthy took on an aggressive campaign towards communism, he made several accusations that government workers were secretly communist. Although he never proved these accusations he provoked hysteria and paranoia which led to negative impact on politics and diplomacy. Soon after, McCarthyism became a term to describe accusing without evidence.

The American public has deeply mixed feelings about the war. I believe we have all been so wrapped up in the Cold War, in military spending, in anti-Communism, in which, it was perceived that Vietnam was being a threat to our way of life, as being an extension of Soviet imperialism. The governments refusal to understand that it was a nationalist movement that was very difficult to defeat by foreign occupation. I believe now is the time for you to focus more on our domestic issues, starting with poverty, unemployment and tensions with race and civil liberties. The Red Scare had spread so quickly people accused their neighbors and friends to be communists. Soon enough even the government was deemed untrustworthy. When someone would verify that they were not communist or inform the Government of suspicious communist activity, they were considered friendly.

The film Including Samuel discusses the difficulties of inclusion. The film follows several families and their experiences with inclusion. Each person presented in the film experienced a different version of inclusion, and with their experience arose diverse challenges. Including Samuel follows people varying in age with a variety of disabilities. The documentary successfully established the difficulties of inclusion within an educational institution.

Grace, who is portrayed by Brie Larson strives to make the children in the facility feel loved and cared for, despite the fact that they may never feel like that. Each child comes from a different type of family, and each has their own troubling story; however, when the children are at Short Term 12, their pasts do not define them. Grace treats each person in Short Term 12 as an equal. Throughout the film, a viewer sees Grace’s life when she works at Short Term 12, and the life she has outside of the facility.
