A college education gives students an opportunity to socialize and make new friends that they could not have met if they were not enrolled in a college. You begin to interact with people of all cultures and learn how to embrace diversity. As you begin to associate with these different cultures you eliminate the stereotypical ideas you had about those cultures. Joining different social clubs or groups can help you to become more socially involved and active around campus. For example, joining a sorority or fraternity you are engaging with a group of people that have prior knowledge and know the history behind the organization. These groups also have parties and formal events to bring other people from other organizations to interact and socialize. …show more content…
It is said to be that a college graduate’s income was about $29,000 more annually than a high school graduate (Hansen, 1). According to Andrew Delbanco, teacher and director of American Studies at Columbia University, some estimates put the worth of a Bachelor of Arts degree at about a million dollars in incremental lifetime earnings (464). The income of families headed by people with a bachelor’s degree will be about $1.6 million more than the income of families headed by those with a high school diploma, according to Postsecondary Education (Hansen, 1). Some students and their families are faced with many student loans. Many students major in fields that will get them a high paying career, so they will be able to pay off student loans. Without a college education, you will not make as much money as you would have compared to if you have a college education. Numerous companies are starting to require people to have a college education as a minimum requirement. Although people want to major or get a degree in a field that will make them a lot of money it does not make them happy. For instance, a desk career pays more than a coaching job, but what if coaching is really what you wanted to do. Money is important, but your happiness is key. The reason for this is once you graduate people tend to work in that field for the rest of their lives. While making as much money as possible is fun, you need to make sure the career you want is the career you get and are content
High school graduates can acquire $2.2 million over their lifetime(College). College graduates make more money than high school graduates over their lifetime. Even though college is necessary some people think that college
The overbearing factor in a person’s decision to go to college is money. They want to make the choice that will result in their monetary success. The best way one can try to ensure their future employment is to complete college. Those who choose to acquire their bachelor’s degree can expect to earn “about $415 more a week than workers whose highest level of education is a high school diploma,” and have about half of their
College graduates tend to earn more than their non-graduate peers, “In 2021, the median income for recent graduates reached $52,000 a year for bachelor’s degree holders aged 22–27. For high school graduates the same age, median earnings are $30,000 a year.” (Association of Public & Land-Grant Universities, 2023). Having a degree or diploma can give a student an advantage over their peers in the hiring and promotional process which means they have the potential to make more. Having a degree or diploma makes someone more marketable in their industry.
Most of the people that earn a bachelor’s degree have a better job than people that don’t. They also make more money, and a more successful life. Some people go to college just to party and have a good time, but you could do that outside of college for a lot less money. Most students end with $27,000 in student loan debt, which is a lot of money. But you also have a better chance of finding a good job that gives you a good amount of money.
Both the video game console and the gaming industry as a whole have had a major impact on the economy throughout the years. From 2005 to 2009, the industry had an annual growth rate of 10 percent compared to the 3.4 percent annual growth rate of the U.S. (Morris, 2010). The video game industry saw a similar annual growth rate from 2009 to 2012, coming in at 9.7 percent, while the U.S. economy slowed to 2.4 percent annually. The booming industry added more than 6.2 billion dollars to the U.S. economy in 2012 (Taylor, 2014). There is also expected to be continued growth at a rate of almost 13 percent from 2014-2018, as seen in figure 1.
Another reason that college educations are not needed is that the student debt that college students get far outweighs the potential salary of college graduates. According to the article, “Why College Isn’t for Everyone”, the author states, “others
Though there are many individuals who believe that college is not for everyone, attending college and getting a higher education can open the gates to many tremendous life changing opportunities such as becoming healthier, begin able to secure jobs, and earning more financially.
In the article, “Why College Isn’t for Everyone,” Richard Vedder writes, “A person who compares the annual earnings of college and high school graduates would no doubt conclude that higher education is a good investment—the present value of the college earnings premium (the better part of $1 million) seemingly far outdistances college costs, yielding a higher rate of return” (Vedder 78). College graduates make more money because college trains its students to be more responsible, mature, and ready for their careers. Graduates are willing to go the extra mile to learn and make financial sacrifices for the profitable
, “Experts that have researched the performance and job success of college graduates have concluded that, nationwide, college graduates with a bachelor's degree earn 74 percent more per year than those who only complete high school.” This seems very logical when you look at the big picture, having furthered your education will open you up to more jobs that that require more education that will most likely pay more. The University of North Texas in their article “Why Go to College?” shows a graph from The U.S. Census Bureau that shows a professional degree could earn you around 4.4 million dollars compared to less than a high school diploma could earn you around 1 million dollars for a whole worklife. Seeing
I agree with this statement because education does help people with a higher-skilled work which helps get a better pay or even your dream job. I plan to go to college to be able to get the skills I need to achieve my goals and dreams. I think college is going to be a great experience in my
There have been few advancements in the history of seafaring that have changed the limits of our capabilities more than nuclear propulsion. Nuclear power has revolutionized maritime warfare in much the same way as sail power or steam power had in the past. Nuclear powered vessels use fission to produce electricity and they are extremely efficient compared to vessels that use fossil fuels. With the introduction of nuclear powered vessels, for the first time in history, the limits on how long a vessel could stay away from port shifted to the human occupants rather than the vessel’s need to refuel (Kamei, 2013).
Introduction Within this essay I will endeavour to showcase my knowledge surrounding internet servers and the technologies associated with them. I will discuss both the hardware and software linked with servers as well as comparing and evaluating the different services and protocols related to server use. I will look to not only describe what I know in these areas but critically asses by showing how and where these technologies could be used as well as the potential pro’s and con’s to using them.
Firstly, it has been proven that employee’s with a college level education will have better wealth compared to a high school graduate. “Workers with a bachelor’s degree earn about $415 more a week than workers whose highest level of education is a high school diploma.” (“New School, Old Story”) Adding onto that “$22,000 more on average per year, compared to high school graduates.” (“5 Ways Ed Pays”)
Fosler 4Even though people often say that money is not everything in life, it is a big part of it. Assalaries continue to rise, students have another motivator factor to pursue a college education. Areason to these high salaries can be the high demand for jobs that require knowledge on aspecific field, such as a doctor or an engineer (Yen). The continuous demand for these jobscreates a motivation inside some of the students mind, making them want to continue on theireducation until they graduate from a four-year institution. As the salaries of these students areaveraged and compared to the salaries from high school graduates, it makes college worth it.
The more money made the better opportunity there is to support ourselves. People with a college degree typically make more money than someone with just a high school diploma. Data shows “The gap in annual earnings between young high school graduates and bachelor’s
