There has been an increasing impact in the role of arts in the lives of people after the 20th century, among a wide range of activities, such as arts therapies, music, drama, performance, dance, and visual arts. Art and culture is seen to illuminate the inner of life and enrich emotions, or physical and mental health. Arts in general could save our historical identification of our ancestors; it could be the mirror image reflecting the future of the following generations. Participation in arts create knowledge and it could reduce some criminal activities. To understand how important arts are to life, firstly, it is necessary to investigate the impact and benefit of art to make industries in each national sectors, namely economy, health and …show more content…
For example, according to the Official Statistics of Department for Culture Media & Sport (2015) illustrates the economic benefit from the arts industry during the year 2013, the figure of these benefits reached to approximately £76.9bn (GVA) Gross Value Add, this figure represented 5.0 per cent of UK economy. Secondly, it raises the question what will happen if the public funding of arts is withdrawn or the economic budget has been cut. For example, the budget of arts in Northern Ireland has been cut 11.2% (£1.38 million to £10.9 million from the total budget during the years 2015/16). The Arts Council of Northern Ireland was forced to make this decision in order to protect the priority of the council services for the following year. According the Art Council Chief Executive, Roisin McDonough (The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, 2015); the Art Council has to reduce and remove the founding of many organisations from the Annual Funding Program, and the Art Council will follow the economic savings policy, for all the reasons mentioned above. Black (2015) states that the Grand Opera House faced a budget cut of £100,000. The funding of Tinderbox Theatre Company in Belfast has been cut 44%, and the website Culture NI will be forced to close down due to the funding
The struggle wasn’t made any easier when there were debates over which style of art the museum should hold. “Some trustees strongly advocated continuing to collect the work of emerging contemporary artists while carefully culling the collection of its less outstanding holdings to finance new acquisitions.” The museum had to sell portions of their collection just to afford the new works of art, just in order to stay open. Faced with this same debacle, Mary Miley Theobald discusses a common business practice of museums that is essential to stay financially stable. Source D outlines the main source of income for art museums.
It supports the urban renewal and regional development which highlight the key achievement and future plans for cultural institutions in NSW. Thus, NSW is expected to deliver enormous social, political and cultural impact as well as sustainable economic growth over Australia. My idea came from watching a documentary on how prisons and jails in Europe have a different approach dealing with inmates when being punished for a crime they did. This place was in Norway, their jails are actually treating their inmates with gratitude. Erwin James (2013) labeled Norway jails inmates “live in conditions that critics brand 'cushy' and 'luxurious'.” These amazing jails have positive results because they have the least reoffenders in the world. The results of my topics should be positive, the reason I say this is because it been tested out in different countries and they had amazing results.
The board and the executive director both have several responsibilities, such as recruiting, supervising, evaluating, leading the organization, policy based governance system, and to protect the organizations assets. Ensuring that both parties are implementing their job, could benefit the organization in many ways. For example, the board is responsible for hiring the general manager. Their job is to hire the best qualified CEO, and as a result the manager will ensure that the organizations mission will be fulfilled. Board members/ executive directors use the internal control system to control an organization.
Robotics in the workplace has seen recent strides across multiple businesses and industries. New technology has paved the way for new possibilities for the implementation of robotics in multiple fields. International Data Corp forecasts a growth of about $135 billion in the robotics industry by 2019 (Gaudin, 2016). There are a few factors that are causing new technology and machinery to become a more viable option that it was in the past. These factors are the main supporters of growth of the industry.
Obesity means that human body has an excess amount of fat, caused by environmental and genetic factors. A Body Mass Index is a measuring tool for obesity, the body mass index of an obese person is 30 or more. There are many diseases are considered consequences of obesity such as heart diseases, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, obstructive sleep apnea, high cholesterol, some cancers, and gallbladder diseases. There are many factors contributed to obesity.
Buildings have a large impact on their surrounding context but also on the larger scale which includes the resources and energy used to produce these buildings. All buildings create harmful emissions, where 18% of these are created indirectly by the materials (Araji & Shakour, 2013). Sustainable design in the building industry is important due to the fact that 50% of the material which is taken from the earth is used within the building industry and from this over 50% is waste production. This large amount of material usage leads to the use of more energy consumption (Anink, et al., 1996).
Musical theatre can be seen as an activity for older generations or those with wealth, however with an increase of musicals tailored to younger people (16 to 25-year old’s), and making musicals more accessible, this has led to a growth in youth attendance across the UK. This study will set out to understand the impact PR has had on younger people and their consumption of musicals. The report will be directly linked to stage musicals both in London and touring theatre across the UK. This literature review will access the existing debates and key reasons behind this growth and how PR has influenced this at every stage. The literature review and overall report will not aim to understand exactly why young people go to musicals or wider theatre
You have indicated some very valid good points in your discussion. I agree that organizations definitely need to take precautions to ensure that the organization protects itself and its assets from aspects that can ruin the organization's reputation and what makes it successful. Further, I agree that social media is definitely a distraction because many times the various social sites take employees away from what they are supposed to be doing. Essentially, many times, we as employees become so consumed with what is presented on individual’s social site pages, in their posts, and the information they are sharing that we lose track of the key objectives and tasks we need to focus on.
Professor Richard Vella disclosed in his ABC article ‘Music industry faces digitisation challenges, but all is not lost’, only ‘massive amounts of streams can produce substantial income’, as Youtube royalties paid back to artists for streamed music is minimal; the standard price per play being $0.001. Due to this risk, artists are resorting to working in other industries in order to form steady income streams. Data taken from the Australian Council Artfacts (Week 2 Reading) found that of the 60,000 musicians registered to APRA/AMCOS, only 7,600 worked primarily as musicians for their main form of
How many countries do you think to manage with the democracy? In the present world, there are %45 countries are independent. It is clear that they are happier and freer than the others. Moreover, it is very important that democracy is a part of our life because there are some important thinks about the democracy. If the country does not manage with a democracy, it may lead to starting some negative effects such as how people trust their government, how people choose who will manage, how to get agreements with the other countries.
“Innovation means doing something new” (Wycoff, 2003. p.5). While it can be risky, I believe innovation leads a company to sustainability (Kinicki & Williams, 2013). By encouraging innovation, a company can increase the creativity and trust of employees, while expanding their markets. I think it is important to expect a level of failure with innovation. If employees are reprimanded for failure, it can discourage them from speaking up the next time they have an idea.
With all of the technological advancements, I think that media researchers have developed tools that have helped them research mass media audiences more easily. One of these technological advancements is the internet and the ability it provides people to share ideas all around the world, particularly through social media. I think that with the popularity of social media, media researchers are learning more and more about consumers by looking into what people like and are talking about through such media platforms. I think that the days of public opinion polling where people would be called over the telephone to answer a few questions are over. I believe that the internet is the new strategy of researchers to learn more about audiences and
During the 00’s there was a minor revolt in the form of the culture secretary Tessa Jowell writing a personal essay to criticise the instrumental approach to the arts. James Purnell who was her successor in 2007 proclaimed an end to targets. Hewison notes that the New LAbour objective of widening social access to the arts had not succeed. Through the 00s, the DCMS and its clients had commissioned increasingly sophisticated surveys of arts participation and attendance. The most comprehensive, the Taking Part survey, found that, between 2005 and 2013, the arts audience increased by 2%, to 78.4% of the population.
Society is made up of individuals who have agreed to work together for mutual benefit. In order for society to run smoothly, everyone needs to do their job. As public citizens, people need to take responsibility of their actions; In regard to science, scientists are responsible for passing important information to the public in order to shape public policy. Of course, this is easier said than done. Scientists face restraints in not only funding, but also in the way science is communicated to the public.
