My philosophy behind creating spaces is translating the client’s desire and personality into a functional, safe, and aesthetically pleasing space. I have had a zealous interest in designing, creating, and exploiting art for a long time, but I know that taking this career path in this region is challenging, since the art movement is underappreciated. However, the Middle East has a long and storied heritage of great art, so I envision my ability to harness our historical artistic traditions and fuse them with European and modern culture to innovate new ideas and designs that will speak not only to my country, but also the world at large. Occasionally, people here do not embrace openness, experimenting, and creating as it is considered a “cultural …show more content…
For instance, certain design elements in interior spaces may activate different emotions in humans depending on color, furniture layout, lighting, textiles, and style. This course inspired me to further focus on and practice this skill. Therefore, I started using multiple techniques in my studio design works, such as maximizing windows to make more use of natural day lighting, controlling ceiling heights, incorporating natural elements-especially plans-in my designs, along with placing furniture carefully which allows for balanced circulating and energy flow, and choosing the right colors according to room function which enhances user performance. Taking these design elements into consideration allows me to manipulate spaces that elicit happiness through pacifying …show more content…
Therefore, managing my time between different tasks and being organized is my priority. Working can be looked at as a burden when one is under much pressure, but I fail to forget that that precisely is what relieves my stress, because the positive repercussions of immersing myself in each project is rewarding and makes it worthwhile. In fact, I find that being busy has driven me towards working more creatively. I also remind myself that without balancing these different projects, my schedule would be vapid. To keep myself updated on the latest trends in interior design outside of the classroom, I take joy in going through interior blogs on “Pinterest” and “Instagram;” but my current favorite blogs are “Dezeen” and “Wallpaper.” Both of these websites post collections of daily articles and news content concerning interior design, architecture, fashion, and lifestyle. Going through these types of blogs in my free time is very crucial in getting inspiration and refreshing my memory with innovative design ideas from diverse places around the
My idea came from watching a documentary on how prisons and jails in Europe have a different approach dealing with inmates when being punished for a crime they did. This place was in Norway, their jails are actually treating their inmates with gratitude. Erwin James (2013) labeled Norway jails inmates “live in conditions that critics brand 'cushy' and 'luxurious'.” These amazing jails have positive results because they have the least reoffenders in the world. The results of my topics should be positive, the reason I say this is because it been tested out in different countries and they had amazing results.
Moreover, the competitive path to becoming a designer engages in a lot of job shadowing and internships to gain experience and connections to clients and future employers (Halder). Whether you attend a state school or an art school, you will learn the lifelong tools such as textiles and space planning that will further benefit your career (Yeager-Smith.) While Every day as an interior designer may not be the same, each day revolves around creating the perfect, desired space for the client. For this reason, the day may be spend with the firm or creating drafts or mood boards for a client, it is always exciting. Henceforth, this goes to show how interior designers collaborate with their clients to create the perfect, functional, beautiful, space they were

(Wilson, 1984; Kellert & Wilson, 1993). Empirical findings from the field of environmental psychology and aesthetics reveals that humans are aesthetically attracted to natural elements and forms. Interaction with those elements and forms is valuable for humans physiological and psychological well-being and cognitive functioning, as it triggers several positive effects as; stress reduction, pain reduction, reduce recovery time after surgery, improve productivity...etc. (Kaplan & Kaplan 1989; Hartig et al., 2003; Ulrich et al. 1991; Ulrich, 1991 &1993; Joye, 2007a, 2007b; Van den Berg, et. al., 2004; Orians & Heerwagen 1992; Heerwagen & Orians,
The increasing regeneration and changes that many UK cities are undergoing places some urgency on Artists, Designers and Writers to help unravel and reveal the changing urban scenes to us. Architects and Urban planners have historically adopted the belief that the right environment could facilitate a better society. (Elina Linina, Self-published Essay, p.4) This ethos reveals a connection that influences the way in which design and art are engaged with in the outside environment. Its an undeniable truth that our surroundings directly impact our daily meanderings whether we are privy to it or not.
The final and most heavily weighted part of the program is the design laboratory. In this lab, I will be given the task to design and build one unit of furniture, accessory, or fixture. The opportunity to design and build my own unique piece of furniture will allow me to learn first hand what the creative and working process is like. This section of the program contains visits to site venues such as the Carrara marble factory and the Maranello factory, which is better known as the Ferrari Factory and Museum. Having the opportunity to visit factories of world-renowned products will allow me to have the knowledge and expertise on products I will use while working for a design firm.
The fuel we use today began forming during the “Carboniferous Period” which was before dinosaurs ruled the Earth (Soft schools, 2014). As many of you may know, the government has recommended phasing out petrol products and replacing them with cheaper, cleaner and continuous, alternative fuel product. The most effective and efficient fuel cell is biodiesel and this is evident through the environmental impacts, the cost, safety aspects, transport, the efficiency of the yield of each fuel and the production logistics in relation to resources. Petroleum produces the most fuel and has multiple resources to extract it and consists of many advantages.
My mother's artistic career and father's love for biology and science create a dichotomy within my separated family. Engaged in design, I crave the liberty to be influenced by diverse threads of thought to inform my creativity. I intend to bring this lens to my study of design at Carnegie Mellon, where I know different strands of knowledge, insight, philosophy, and expertise will inevitably influence my practice. I cannot deny my dedication to the academics simply because I following a design path. Instead, I believe that precisely because design carrie a social intent, I need to be invested in various areas of knowledge to further inform my work and add a basis of profound research.
Invisible to Visible The focus of this paper is the simple idea that architecture and design can be conceived, understood and presented in a number of ways; a story about a building, a space, a detail, or even a person. Similar to storytelling, design can be conceived not only as a process through programming, design, construction, and occupancy but also as a narrative about the relationship between the spaces and the people who use them. A narrative is not only a description but a way of exploring human thoughts, ideas and emotions. The objective of this paper is to help you capture what most architectural design has missed, and that is the emotional relationship between humans and spaces designed to shape the thoughts and emotions of their users
The level of democracy can be measured in any given state by observing several democratic factors present in that state. In order to be considered democratic, the state must portray some of the qualities of democracy. A quality required is associational autonomy which measures the amount of freedom and protection the general public receives by the government. This paper will measure the level of democracy in terms of its associational autonomy portrayed in the North African state of Tunisia, a state building up to a democratic political system. In this essay, I will argue that the quality of associational autonomy in Tunisia meets the requirement of democracy by twenty percent.
In what ways have media content changed and how does this influence journalism today? This is sort of questions are important to ask because of the influences of media has the potential to influence long-lasting effects on human knowledge and to build their perceptions of the world. News media is considered as a source of power and an influence to society, but opinions differ on whom or which actually control the powers of influence over the media and the occurring changes, but journalism has through time, been considered as a key player for shaping society (Strömbäck, & Karlsson, 2011, Who's Got the Power?). We live today in a media landscape with a wider range of media and information than ever before, where printed news media and newspapers have in recent years gained a longer reach due to the digital developments, which have given rise to the growing proliferation of news production and news consumption on the Internet (Strömbäck the 2015 Handbook).
More than two and a half decades have passed since the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) was negotiated in 1992. Over the past decades, the landscape of energy resources for members of the international community has changed as much as the pace of climate change and related mitigation policies and negotiations. Moreover, there has been an ever-growing tension between climate change and energy security. Developed, developing, and underdeveloped countries have all, although to different extents and in different forms, been experiencing the same tension and facing a shared dilemma. As was exemplified by the statement of the United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations in 2007:
Discussions about science always bring to mind a certain kind of detachment from the mainstream. The need of specific talent and skill set has ensured that the public views it as an elitist institution and fails to recognize its value. We witness a massive gap in communication between this ‘elitist’ culture and the general public. While this is not something new, from a historical point of view, since this divide was much more prominent in earlier times, mostly due to the lack of sufficient technology for communication. But current advancements have given us an unique situation where the traditional authorities on information, namely the press and the government, is being slowly getting bogged down by the emerging social platforms that have
Introduction This is the first email that has changed the message that modern society conveys on computers, allowing people to send messages any day or night. Then it's instant messaging to help people communicate with other people, like SMS (short messaging service). Whatsapp which is a social media began as an alternative to SMS (WhatsApp Inc.,2017). It originated in the process of transferring orally-oriented discourse to written form. (Calero-Vaquera, 2014).Email is through the internet to send to everywhere.
