I choose sustainability in the lodging industry because with this being relevant in most of my major classes this semester. I wanted to do more research and become more knowledgeable on why sustainability is so important and the impact it has on this generation and generations to come. The three pillars of sustainability environmental, physical and social aspect all affect one another, especially in terms of tourism and hospitality. The industry is only growing and if continues to expand while hurting the environment and using up resources that are scarce in one or more state or countries is questionable. The amounts of benefits companies are finding through the “implementation of sustainable polices and practices by staff and guest” (Eds.a.ebscohost.com.proxyiub.uits.iu.edu, 2015) this is the mian focus on who has the resources to make hotels more green but this is also who is benefiting by ensuring that the standards of management and quality of hotel is up to par. The problem with improving quest expectations while performing well executed practices is finding that people are even less sustainable when in hotels then they are their homes because of the idea that there are unlimited resources. When you look at the ownership of hotel companies, there are so many middle guys that are helping financially and building financial models to see what more there is to “consider that just the first cost of the installing systems and the energy consumed.” (Eds.a.ebscohost.com.proxyiub.uits.iu.edu, 2015) The purpose to making the most out of the energy already accessible unlike other countries would only benefit by using the tools that drives efficient cuts on cost design, that is externally affecting the physical environment but will internally increase profitability and quality by using a maintenance model and energy driven …show more content…

Which it is, to control how one becomes green they study shows that hotels really control where guests stay and the quality and resources they gave access to. Hotels are to cater to the wants and needs of guests around the world but to what extent?
