Learn from Finland’s Education System
Education system is very interesting topic to be discussed among country, not excepted Finland. Finland has the best education system in the world.
“Education is an unbelievably complicated process that does not happen in vacuum.” — Christine McCartney.
As Christine McCartney said, the education system is a complicated system. We cannot just try one system and not survey the process success or fail. Consequently, the system has to develop to obtain better quality, and Finland is one from the few countries that apply this principle.

Therefore, the demand of educated labors was increase and makes the education quality increased too. Although the quality was increase, the equality for children can school was not increase yet. Rich boy where live in urban area can continuing his education to secondary school while girl and poor children cannot.
By the late 1970s, teacher’s quality got attention from Finnish society. Finland improves teacher requirements such as the teacher must hold Master’s degree, intellectually attractive, and selected by universities. In Finland, only one in ten applicants to teaching programs is admitted. Teachers in Finland teach 600 hours a year; spending the rest of time in professional development, meeting with colleagues, students and families.
Teacher education was always improved and extended by government. Policy makers decided that if the teacher invested in very skillful teachers, the government could allow local schools to make decisions about what and how to teach—a reaction against the oppressive, centralized system the government sought to overhaul.

Indonesia has high population and it is made a big problem to increase education system. Teacher in Indonesia commonly less interaction with students; do not care about student who left in his or her lessons.
In Indonesia, some teacher requirements such as the teacher must be hold Bachelor’s degree. Selection for teacher also can be manipulated. Young people in Indonesia less interest with teacher profession; made teacher profession majority for old people.
Compulsory education in Indonesia for 7-15 years old children (primary and secondary school) is a policy from government. Indonesia also provides vocational school with requirement which is the student must finish his or her secondary school. In primary school, the students already learn many subjects such as civics, art, history, and social. These subjects are good because we can learn more knowledge; nevertheless the subject cause over assessment to students in early studies. Every subject have standard for pass; therefore, make students depression to think how to pass from the subjects.
