Any true and patriotic Pakistani would appreciate ‘JINNAH-THE MOVIE’ that acts as an elaborate tribute given to our country’s Founder: Mohammad Ali Jinnah. Jinnah in the eyes of many was and is a man who changed the course of history. A man who created a Muslim Nation, sprung it from the grounds of subcontinent and made it into a country. JINNAH- THE MOVIE starts off with the story taking a fantastical note when Jinnah ( Christopher Lee) is in his final hours. The ambulance that carries him, breaks down. As they wait for a new ambulance, Jinnah goes into a coma driven situation and the screen becomes black. From there, the movie progresses in a non-linear, fictional time where Jinnah awakens to find himself in an afterlife place, awaiting …show more content…

In my opinion, the script focused more on personal lives of not only Jinnah but Nehru (Robert Ashby) as well as Edwina Mountbatten ( Maria Aitken). I did not see any relevance in showing their personal history in the movie as it is not related to Jinnah and his struggles. There is a scene in the movie where Fatima Ali Jinnah (Shireen Shah) asks Edwina to use her special relationship with Nehru to stop anti-Muslim protests. This scene is of relevance as it shows how Fatima Jinnah as a loyal companion and supporter of Jinnah had to work hard to make this ideology come to life as well. I also believe that the movie did not focus on Jinnah’s political career in detail as it should have. Where was Jinnah’s famous Fourteen Points Speech? Where were other Muslim League members due to whom Jinnah received never ending support and determination? Liaquat Ali Khan ( Shakeel ) in a scene is shown giving Jinnah the opportunity to expose Nehru and Edwina Mountbatten. Highlighting Pakistan’s First Prime Minister in this light does not serve him
