This short red iron device pictured above is a fire hydrant. The fire hydrant is an example of public health in action because people do not know how important it is within the community. A fire hydrant is a fire protection measure. The image impacts health because fire hydrants are placed within the communities to prevent unintentional injuries. They are there to assist fire fighters if a fire is too big to control. In rare cases, if the fire truck water runs out there is always a fire hydrant nearby to provide more water. The fire hydrant can also be a way to supply water to people in the community. What is Public health one may ask? Public health is preventing diseases, protecting and promoting the health of families, communities and population.
