As I reflect on the process employed for completion of this action research project I think about the process that principals and other educational leaders use to promote school improvement. As a future educational leader I must promote the success of every student by facilitating the development, articulation, implementation, and stewardship of a vision of learning that is shared and supported by all stakeholders (The Council of Chief State School Officers [CCSSO], 2008). When I first started the principalship program I was amazed to find out that Firestone High School did not have a vision statement in place and when I asked several of the current administrators about our vision, often I was told our mission statement. As I continue on with my internship program next year, it will be my goal to ensure that by the time we are in our new building in 2016 the school will have a vision statement to guide our focus. …show more content…
Also, that the vison will give the community an opportunity for their voices to be heard and to be involved more in school activities, whether they are located on the school grounds or in a different location. As a leader it is my job to promote the interaction of these various groups and if the school follows the action plan this is what will take place. Standard 4 states just this “an education leader promotes the success of every student by collaborating with faculty and community members, responding to diverse community interests and needs, and mobilizing community resources. Not only do we need to involve the community during the creation of the vision but we need to make sure that as the community changes we revisit the

Collins Elementary is a branch of Alief Independent School District. I have been to many Alief schools and observed a very common pattern in all the schools in the district. They fallow the same requirements and have the same curriculum. I did notice that Collins elementary have a few assests that are unique to this school.
This committee was necessary as our schools have gone through rapid growth in a world that is constantly changing. I was asked to join as a student member of this committee, and jumped on board without hesitation, remembering all the good that the schools had done for me. As a student member of this committee, I worked with teachers and administration across the school district, parents of kids in the district, and community leaders in both Sartell and St. Stephen to come up with a common vision for the future of our schools and a blueprint to lead us there. As we met through the rest of that school year, we came up with the common goal of meeting the mission statement of the Sartell Schools, which is to “Inspire the entire community to develop well-rounded citizens capable of becoming successful and contributing members of society by providing outstanding instruction in a caring and
“In addition to organizational structure, the people within an organization determine how the organization functions. The values and perspectives of these individuals can influence how programs are implemented, how the organization obtains money and other resources, who is hired by the organization, and what services the organization provides,” (Hardina, Middleton, Montana & Simpson, 2007 pg. 29). The following will analyze the Saginaw Intermediate School District (Saginaw ISD) and their ability to meet the needs of those people it serves as well as those individuals they employ. Stakeholder Groups Recruiting and retaining active stakeholders increases, “Greater community support and buy-in, varied perspectives, a better understanding of the community context and an overall, more effective effort,” (Morgan, Stakeholders and Collaborators, 2018).

Whoville Middle School is in need of a vision. I would further investigate the needs of the school to ensure that all of the needs are identified. A needs assessment plan will be used to provide important information concerning the strengths and weaknesses of the school. I would collaborate with the teachers and parents of the community to develop a vision that would best improve the school. I have to be aware of the demographics of the school in means of diversity and diverse educational needs.

Over the summer school officials met to review the mission statement of previous years and decided it was time for a change. Our previous mission statement was "The Mission of Charlotte Valley Central School District is to create a learning environment that challenges and motivates each student to become a self-sufficient, cooperative, responsible and attributing member of a global society while encouraging each to achieve his or her highest potential. " This was felt to be too long, busy, too much and not direct enough. So the officials worked together to create a new statement around the six core beliefs. Students first, trust, ownership, communication, collaboration, and growth mindset.

As a prospective college student, one looks for a wide variety of specific characteristics in a future home; A certain size, definitive mission statement, divergent student body, blossoming educational programs, and an abundance of opportunity were at the top of my list. I found all of these criteria to not only to be met by Drake University, but most were far surpassed. The institution seemed to be progressive and yet historic, accommodating to those for whom it was necessary while allowing vast amounts of freedom to all. Drake University appeared to be perfect in all regards, an utopia of equality. Shortly after moving onto campus, I discovered that my campus of bliss was not quite the fairytale story of impartiality I had been told.
My critical role is to provide high-quality education, to help my students develop into independent, problem-solvers and reflective individuals who are competent at taking on the roles of their future careers. Equally important in advocating for social change is my making education accessible to all children under my care regardless of who they are, where they come from, and what they can or cannot do. These are the key roles of an educator of the 21st century, and I believe I will be able to achieve this vision, and ready for my role as I complete the program at
