As a fifteen year old, I never thought I would be thinking about college so early, what irony! I stood a little surprised when my teacher gave me a paper which said I earned the opportunity to go to college early. I actually did not know that was possible; I decided to learn a little bit more about the program, Puma College Connection Program. After learning a little more about the program I knew I needed to take advantage of the opportunity. I talked to my parents and they both agreed, so I feel encouraged and hopeful for my future.
Athletics is special and it should be taken with caution, but this writer believes every college should go all in on the opportunity to have college athletics. College athletics at a Community College provides hope to the student, some kids may have had a bad High School experience, but the college can give the player a fresh start and athletes love to have a fresh start. This writers grades were not good in Highschool and if this writer had a Community college around that offered college athletics this writer would have went. Eventually this writer got an opportunity to play in college, but not at a division one college where this writer had offers from, so Community College would do more good than bad to the student
6. A high school diploma is important to my future because it will help me get into college. Also, a high school diploma can help me get a job. A high school diploma is important to me because I can one day show my kids that it’s possible to make it through school no matter how hard it might get. Ungar’s theory of attending college and earning a degree, is extremely useful because it sheds insight on the difficult problem of many people debating whether or not going to college and earning a degree is the correct decision after graduating college. I agree with Ungar, that graduating high school students should go on and earn a higher education, which is a point that needs emphasizing, since so many people believe that without a college degree they will be successful. High school graduates that have entered the work field after high school graduation, of course, may want to dispute my claim that in order to become successful person you do not need a college education. Many may argue that they have become a successful without a college
Other than working with different people, college students will have to take action and responsibility on their own. For instance, they will have to wake up and be on time for their classes, get there work done and then have time for themselves. “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.“Les Brown. Finally, going to college is what you make it. You have to surround yourself with positive people and have a positive mindset you shouldn’t go just for the money, it’s a lot of opportunity in going to college.
As an upcoming freshman in college I have realized many things looking back at my high school career, and home life outside of school. I use to wish for time to speed up so I could hurry and become my own person, a young adult and now I will truly miss it but I know my time was well spent because I used it wisely by partaking in opportunities to better myself, and spending my time wisely In and outside of school. I can truly say I tried all throughout school to find new ways to get involved with my school, community, and people around me. But I really would have to give all of my success up to this point to my mother, from being the vice president of drama club up to getting getting my part time job to which I have been committed to for almost
Many students believe that high school seniors should be provided with privileges in honor of their completion of high school. Seniors, they argue, deserve additional rights, considering that they are practically adults and will soon be attending college. To further this transition, as well as prepare for it, there have been numerous privileges granted to high school seniors across the nation, ranging from primary parking to the shortening of schedules. At GHS, senior privileges are implied rather than established. Since our school houses grades kindergarten through 12, it is quite difficult to separate certain privileges without infringing on those who are not yet in the high school.
The decision to attend college immediately after high school is one of the many challenges high schoolers face upon graduating. There are several reasons why that attending college promptly after graduation is a good idea. It is more beneficial than waiting because one will already have the drive to continue on with school rather than waiting, one will also graduate sooner which in turn will result in better job opportunities, and one is more likely to apply one’s high school knowledge. By attending college immediately after high school, one is more like to continue with one’s momentum. If one stops and waits to return to school, one would lose that drive to challenge that higher education.
High school is a time for big decisions. It is a time to find out who you are and who you will become. In these 4 years everyone was trying to have a voice in my life. My parents wanted me to be successful and a good person, my teachers wanted me to get good grades and enjoy their classes, my friends wanted me to try things with them and have fun, and my pastor wanted me to be a person that shared Gods love. So many different people wanting so many different things but they also all wanted one more thing for me.
The problems that I face in my educational career have made me stronger and have made me learn valuable things. I now value education more and have immense respect for it. I wake up extra early in the morning and come to the college center to get a little extra time on college applications. I also attend college boot camps during summer vacation to become more knowledgeable with the college process. Not being able to apply to the majority of scholarships has helped me explore new options and opportunities.
