“Tuesday of the Other June” by Norma Fox Mazer is a realistic fiction about a girl named June, who goes to her first day at swim class, and would start going every Tuesday. June finds out someone has the same name as her. The other June does not like the fact that they have the same name. In the beginning, June was happy, she didn 't have to be worried about many things. June also had a great and honest relationship with her mom. Soon, the other June comes along and ruins June’s happiness. June didn 't want time to pass, every passing second just led to Tuesdays, which was the day she would get assaulted and bullied. June doesn’t tell her mom that any of this is happening, all she tells her mom is that she fell on the cement. Little did June know it would get much worse when she coincidentally moves in next to the other June. In the end, as the other June was going to stab June, the teacher saw and the other June got sent to the office. June knew, that she wouldn’t have to worry about the other June again. This story shows that June was treated badly by the other June.
Do kids really need to get up before daylight just to get to school on time? The answer is no. School should start later. We need more sleep for our brains to function right, also our circadian rhythm changes as we get older making us go to sleep and wake up later, too.
Imagine staying up until the wee hours of the morning to finish the homework that had been accumulated during the day, only to have to get up a few hours later to catch the school bus, knowing that succeeding in class the next day would be short of a miracle. For many students, this scenario is not only feared but a reality they must face. The American Academy of Pediatrics states, “About 90% of high-school-aged adolescents get insufficient sleep on school nights…”(“Early Start Times and Depression”). Because of the lack of sleep students face, it poses serious problems for them the next day inside and outside of the classroom. Countless schools across America start earlier than the recommended
The United States has used daylight saving time for about 100 years (Source A) in order to promote saving energy consumption (Source B). DST was first adopted after World War I, but then repealed a year later. Despite this, the US adopted a “war time” daylight saving time instituted during World War II. One day you wake up glad because you got an extra hour of sleep, and just six months later you wake up sad because you lost an hour of sleep. Twice a year, every year, we face a change in time construction and in our daily schedule, causing a dramatic shift in our regular routines. Daylight Savings is a controversial topic that has caused great uprising regarding its usefulness. Despite some of its benefits, the Daylight Savings time change is unnecessary due to its direct impact on society’s well being and it’s ineffective purpose.
To live a certain day many times might be an exceptional experience for some, and it might a tiring one for others. From my perspective living a certain day many times is very beneficial because it provides a one with enough time and chances to experience and try different and new things. If I were given a chance to live a certain day of my life I would choose my birthday because it is one of happiest days of my life. While I choose to repeat that day, The main character in the Groundhog Day movie was cursed to repeat a day again and again, until he changed and the curse was broken.
