It is a part of the festivities to light candles. Imbolc was an Irish holiday, that meant 'in the belly '. It was celebrated as a sacred day, by lighting fire and performing rituals.

Although that makes us similar, some of our culture traditions make us different. For example: Dominicans celebrate christmas from October until January, because it is considered to be the most important holiday of the year.
In the book Soundscapes by Shelemay, it talks about the different ways where people use the music to mark segments of the life cycle. An experience that I have that is a great example of this is, during the Christmas season my family and other close relatives gather together each year to sing songs, have food and act out the story of how Jesus was born. This is what is known as “Posadas,” which is similar to a party that people from Mexico perform as part of their tradition when Christmas is about to arrive. The “Posadas” require about nine days, but now people only perform it for one or two days. During the “Posadas” we tend to sing different songs that relate to Catholic songs.

However, last year the second four-day weekend was cut short due to a snow makeup day. It 's inconvenient for parents as well as students.
Thanksgiving and Christmas: Similar but Different As the cold outside air whips faces and flurries dance, American’s begin prepping for the festive holiday season. The two major holidays during this time of year are Thanksgiving and Christmas. These two holidays are major gathering days for families and are both a chance for students to take a few days off of school. Although these celebrations are similar, both holidays have individual characteristics that make the events unique and different from one another. This essay will examine more closely the similarities and differences, specifically comparing and contrasting the origins of the holidays, the foods that are served, and the celebration traditions.
After this though, you might change your opinion. My first reason why The Nightmare Before Christmas is more of a Christmas movie is because there are more songs. There are five to six Christmas songs (depending on what you consider a Christmas song) and there are three Halloween songs. Each song takes about three minutes. That means that there was six to nine more minutes that are for Christmas, just from songs.
