During the time period of 1450-1750, there were many changes as well as continuities in the economy of the Atlantic world form. One main change during this time was, the involvement of trading European firearms and other foods. This diversified the initial upbringing of the Atlantic world trade, which was different from its original usage of exporting slaves, gold, salt, and other goods. But this was both a positive and negative change for the economical status of the Europeans earnings increased, but negatively as well as there were more weapons used for violence. In relation, a continuity that occurred through this time was the use of the Atlantic world for the trade of African slaves.
When looking back on the changes and continuities of commerce throughout the Indian Ocean regions from 650 AD to 1750 AD, many noteworthy aspects can be seen. One such continuity was repeated usage of trade routes by different merchants and economic groups to import and export goods. Another significant change was the increase of involvement by European traders. Overtime they began to involve themselves more and more in the Indian Ocean trade networks and even began to colonize land.
The Portuguese forced every ship that passed to carry a safe conduct pass, which was issued for a hefty fee. If they did not pay it, their ships and cargo would be seized (Doc. 5). This shows how irresponsible and how senseless the Portuguese were while they had possession of the region. On the other hand, they did end up starting to respect the Muslims around their area more and starting to trust them. Muslim brokers had great authority and usually handled all transactions at the ports.
Near the end of Ibn Battuta's life, the Sultan of Morocco insisted that Ibn Battuta dictate the story of his travels to a scholar and today we can read translations of that account.” The Muslims have contribute heavily to the knowledge gain and without them the Indian Ocean trades will not be the way it is now but with the Portuguese trying to take these people out of the trade, trades will not be able to flourish the way it was
Before the Portuguese got into the Indian ocean to begin maritime trade there was mainly land-based trading going on with the nations/countries around them and some maritime trade. As the countries began to trade more and more they all soon had the products that each country around them had to offer. That’s when the Portuguese decided to try and transform maritime trade. The Portuguese wanted the three g’s every country dreams of: God, Glory, and Gold. Although many Scholars would argue that the Portuguese transformed maritime trade, they did not due to how power hungry they got and waging war with the nations and the effects left on the countries.
For example, the Ottoman Empire controlled the land surrounding the Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, and the Baltic Sea thus was a part of a large sea trade network (doc 4). As a result, ideas and inventions were spread to this empire that improved people’s lives. Additionally, the Ottoman’s sphere of influence increased as well as they came in contact with other civilizations and further spread Islam. Furthermore, their economy grew and became wealthier as a larger amount of goods were entering the market and there was an increase in the exchange of products due to trade with multiple other empires. In addition, eastern coastal African towns like Mozambique, Zimbabawe, and Mogadishu were located along the sea network that connected India, Arabia and Africa, where exotic goods like animal skins, gold, and ivory were traded (doc 10b).
Boats could travel through the Arabian, Mediterranean, and Red seas, along with
Even if you are not a fisherman you can 't deny that successful fly fishing is an art, requiring careful preparation and planning. The most indispensable part of the process is finding the right fishing flies for the area and wildlife you are planning to go fishing in. The fly fishing flies that fly fishermen use for bait are meant to match the size and species of the real insects that imbue a given area and attract fish. This way, they are indistinguishable from the fish who want to eat them.
To what extent did the Age of Exploration 15th to 16th lead to conflict and competition between Port and Spain? Introduction The Age of Exploration was during the Renaissances period in Europe, it was a time that dealt with the whole of Europe coming out of the dark ages which was during 14th century to the 16th century when the Renaissance ended, of course this was due to the industrial revolution but that is not important… The age of Exploration was a time when many countries in Europe sought a means of power by traveling to the new worlds in aid of helping their own countries by retrieving raw materials, slave labour, rare foods and spices, but also land that they could claim for their own countries. The most famous out of these countries during the time where England and Spain both they ruled large amounts of land during the late Renaissance period, but our main focus is during the early Renaissance period this was the time when Portugal and Spain where both trying to head East to claim valuable raw materials and spice, from India and many other countries along the way.
Many different theories have been suggested to explain why the East Coast Fishery collapsed. A few examples include overfishing, destructive fishing practices, and changes in natural conditions. Primarily, overfishing plays a huge role in the collapse of the East Coast Fishery. The amount of catch allowed by the federal government was extensively high. Scientists may have overestimated the number of fish reaching adulthood each year, due to this more fish were caught then reached maturity.
Though the Abbisads would eventually lose control of the Indian Ocean Trade Route in 1258 C.E. when they collapsed as an empire, they were able to set a clear standard of Islamic rule of the trade route for hundreds of years. Overtime, the trade route would expand and include parts of Europe, Africa, and East Asia and eventually develop into an independent system of peaceful trade. This became a standard in the area until the Portuguese began to use force and take over the Indian Ocean Trade Route for their economic benefit. All in all, the Portuguese drastically transformed maritime trade in the Indian Ocean in the sixteenth century through their attempts of monopolizing and forcibly taking control of the entire trade route to help gain economic revenue and trade more items.
Throughout the late 1400’s and the 1500’s, the world experienced many changes due to the discoveries of new lands and peoples that had been never been visited before. The new-found lands of the Americas and exploration of Africa by the Europeans led to new colonies and discoveries in both areas. It also brought different societies and cultures together that had never before communicated, causing conflict in many of these places. While the Europeans treated both the Native Americans and West Africans as inferior people, the early effects they had on the Native Americans were much worse. Beginning in the late 1400’s, many different European explorers started to look for new trade routes in the Eastern Hemisphere in order to gain economic and religious power.
