The purpose of the application paper is to define five concepts in our own words from each unit and apply them to the personality we originally described in the initial paper providing specific examples. The five concepts I will be using are the following; Freudian slip, Defense mechanism, Secure attachment, Flow and Thrown-ness. The first concept I will present is the Freudian slip. The Freudian slip also known as Parapraxis is defined as to make a mistake in speech, memory, or physical action, while thinking of something else. It is like when someone says one thing, while thinking about something else and the wrong words comes out instead. An example of Freudian slip is when IZ says something but means somethings else or when she makes a mistake in memory. There was a time that IZ was looking for her phone, all over the house and she could not find it. She traced back her steps and found her phone in the fridge. There was another time that she locked herself out of the house and her 9 month old son was inside. She just came home from her son’s pediatrician and was already feeling stressed, she took her son inside the house first and went back outside to get the rest of her stuff. When IZ went to open the door, the door had shut and the lock was on. IZ forgot her keys inside the house and left her 9 month old son inside …show more content…
Csikszentmihalyi’s theory of flow is to be in a state of mind in which a person concentrates on a particular activity with energy, enjoyment and energy. It is like when someone is in a zone enjoying a particular activity. An example on how IZ gets in the zone or let’s say flow, is when she wants to do a project at home. IZ likes change and she likes to see things differently, change the color to her house or move furniture around. The first thing she does is analyze her project, and slowly gets in the flow and just goes with her idea. A recent project she has done, is converting her sunroom into a second living

The second question with the problem with humans is “what are the innate predispositions of men?” (Becker, 1971, p. 116). The third question with the problem with humans is “what types of personality are most valued” (Becker, 1971, p. 116). The fourth question with the problem with humans is “what are the modes of relating to others” (Becker, 1971, p. 116).
The Various Perspectives of Personality There have been numerous studies of the factors that can affect a person’s personality. Typically, these studies always reflected on what role a child’s early life played in their adult personalities. The character of Howard Hughes from the movie The Aviator was a fitting example of the many effective factors (Scorsese, 2004). This paper’s purpose is to examine and describe theories such as the psychoanalysis perspective, physiological perspective, and biological perspective of personality traits. Psychoanalysis Perspective Erik Erikson was a student of Freud whose approach to psychoanalysis was called ego psychology (Larsen & Buss, 2008).
PSYCHOSEXUAL THEORY OF DEVELOPMENT This is an assignment given in Adolescence and Learning to explore Sigmund Freud’s psychosexual theory of development. This theory describes how the personality is developed over the course of childhood through various fixations at each stage. The five stages are oral, anal, phallic, latency and genital. Each of the psychosexual stages is associated with a particular conflict that must be resolved before the individual can successfully advance to the next stage (McLeod, 2008). According to Freud, a person who successfully completes these stages forms a successful and healthy personality whereas if certain conflicts are not resolved at the appropriate stage fixations occurs which result in failure
