James M. Kouzes and Barry Z. Posner’s book titled, The Leadership Challenge: How to Make Extraordinary Things Happen in Organizations (J-B Leadership Challenge: Kouzes/Posner) 6th Edition, focuses on the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership: 1. Model the way, 2. Inspire a shared vision, 3. Challenge the process, 4. Enable others to act, and 5. Encourage the heart. After reading the portions of the first chapter, regarding the Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership, I feel as though each practice (Mainly, the practices that were previewed in the first chapter) our focal points into organizations creating collaborative cultures, where both management and employees work together to create opportunities for each other and accomplish workplace goals.
1. Model the Way:
Since the age of six, I have been part of the quote-on-quote workplace environment-culture (Workforce). In this case, I have been employed at my family-based cleaning business since I was a child and I consider this type of employment as my first occupation. Certainly, individuals might view that having a child working at the tender age of six is too young for a child to become part of the workforce and that my family-based cleaning business violated child labor laws. Regardless of how individuals might view a child as young as I was working, I am overwhelmingly thankful that members of my family-based cleaning business have taught me at an early age that hard-work truly pays off; only when the individuals

(Document 7). This shows that some children weren’t properly cared for in their job. They later made rules to better the working environment for men and women. Children also started working at a very young age. For instance,” C:
According to Kouzes and Posner (2017), there are five practices to become an exemplary leader (2011). These practices include the following: Model the Way, Inspire a Shared Vision, Challenge the Process, Enable Others to Act, and Encourage the Heart (p. 11). Each practice has its own set of commitments and all of them can be practiced and learned. To effectively Model the Way be transparent, while defining your own beliefs. This will set an example of the expected behavior from others.
Although child labor laws were put in place in the U.S. many years ago we can still find it in the seams of our country. According to Semuels, The Occupational Health and Safety Administration received 19 child-labor complaints and found 467 child-labor violations in 2010. (par. 18) In addition, these children work in construction sites, farms, or other places that require hard physical labor.
Leadership is something I take part in daily. Since I am senior at my school, younger students tend to look up to me as a role model. I play three sports in which I show leadership in and teach others leadership as well. The sport I represent leadership best in, is basketball. I lead the team huddles, say positive things to keep my teammates under control, and I show a player a drill or play if they don't understand it.
Kouzes, Barry Z. 2003) And Shackleton nailed all The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. He modeled the way by never giving in to his negative emotions and always saw the positive side. Shackleton Inspired a Shared Vision by starting with a team fully committed to the adventure and making it a group project not just his own. The entire process was a challenge, how could Shackleton not have been challenging the process.
The five parts to the leadership are model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable other to act, and encourage the heart. The first practice is model the way. Martin Luther King Jr. represented model the way by setting examples, being a role model, and having numerous personal achievements. Edwards (2010) stated in the article “Remembering Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.” the he inspired us to dream, challenged us to act, loved us and encouraged our hearts. Model the way did not just start with Martin Luther King Jr. First,
In this book, Maxwell narrowed a plethora of perspectives on leadership characteristics he gathered from leaders across all walks of life into 21 laws. He developed the 21 laws as a foundation for leadership by finding similarities between different leadership principles and concepts. This book is a great starting point for people who want to begin their journey towards becoming a great leader. This is the foundation that a person can build upon and then add more insights with Maxwell's other books as well as the books in this bibliography. Maxwell, J.C. (2002).
Being a leader in any capacity can be without a doubt a most challenging feat. It depends though on how a person exhibits his or her leadership qualities and so doing will automatically lead by example. According to Liano (2016), “Each day you are leading by example. Whether you realize it or not or whether it’s positive or negative, you are influencing those around you.”
Critically compare and evaluate three themes or issues related to the practice of leadership discussed in the readings and set text taking into consideration a Biblical worldview. The three themes that are related to the practice of leadership that I will review are Model the way (leading by example) , Inspire a shared vision (leading continuous change) and Enable others to act (giving others the opportunity to lead and make decisions). In the book the Leadership challenge Kouzes and Posner define "leadership as the art of mobilizing others to want to struggle for shared aspirations.
Module 8: Leadership Model MGT 560: Leadership Development Colorado State University-Global Campus Professor: Tom Woodruff May 03, 2015 : Introduction The Case Study, The Food Terminal (A) has been considered to offer the Model adapted from Montgomery, Copley, and Associates (1996) as a solution for the issues arising out of the case study. A professional situation experienced by me has been considered too and the model employed while I was working as a Manager. Heart Mike mentioned that he was initially nervous while getting the responsibilities and was asked to meet the department managers, and that he could see the look of disappointment in their eyes. He had the heart to share that most of these managers
CORPORATE LEADERSHIP SEVEN HABITS AND DEMING’S 14 POINTS AROOJ ZAFAR 01-221162-105 SEVEN HABITS AND DEMING’S 14 POINTS Stephen R. covey the author of the book “principle centered leadership” explained ways to establish personal effectiveness. In his book, he discovered seven habits that allow people or organizations to develop commitment towards stable and unchanging principles in their behaviors and interactions; in the state of interdependence. He linked total quality with principle centered leadership as it allows people to be more intrinsically motivated to seek stability and continuous improvement. Interpersonal effectiveness is essential to total quality as it allows organizations to develop relationships within the departments,
Through self-reflection and academic readings, I have discovered that I identify with three different leadership theories. During the first meeting in a Strength Based Leadership class, we were asked to write our leadership history. The class then began an ongoing exploration of various leadership theories. Upon reviewing my leadership history from the first class and synthesizing the information from the theories that were examined, I discovered that I most resonate with the Trait Leadership Theory, the Skills Leadership Theory, and the Path-Goal Leadership theory. These theories are leader focused, describing the process and techniques a leader uses to accomplish goals.
Strengths According to my range of scores during this student leadership practices inventory, ‘modeling the way’ was my only high score putting me at a 21.5/peer-evaluation and a 25/self-evaluation. I thought that I lead by example more and created a path for others to follow like a role-model would, but peers suggest that I need to expand this leadership behavior although they did give me a moderate score average. There is still definite room for improvement. I did rank a close second when it concerned ‘encouraging the heart’ with a moderate score ranging from 30-60th percentile from myself and peers.
But not all work done by children should be accepted as child labor. In other words, if a work doesn’t harm child’s health or personal development (educational issues), it is generally accepted as something positive and useful. Such activities develop children’s skills, provide experience and formulate them to be part of society. The term “Child Labor” is when children do work that damages their health or hamper mental or physical
