Flipped Should Be On The Top Of Your Reading List! Flipped got 4 out of 5 stars from three critics and Publishers Weekly claimed Flipped was “A compelling dynamic between the two narrators and a resonant ending, this novel is a great deal larger than its parts.” Although people may argue Flipped is an ooey-gooey girly book, but Flipped can appeal to guys and girls. Readers would be interested to know, Flipped has very valuable life lessons for guys and girls, it is very descriptive, and also it shows how much a person 's viewpoint can affect a story when the two narrators talk about the same thing but from their point of view. I guarantee Flipped will be a book worth your while if you read it. Wendelin Van Draanen is very good at showing how much a person’s viewpoint affects an event that both experienced. In the book one of the main characters Bryce Loski looked over Juli’s fence and thought that her backyard was covered in chicken poop from her chickens; it was actually dirt is what you found out in the next chapter when Juli was telling her side of the event that happened in the book. With the two narrators it makes the book more exciting and descriptive too. When the author did that she also helped you understand an important life lesson. …show more content…
One of the important life lessons she included was to "never judge a book by its cover". This was one of the life lessons because Juli thought Bryce was amazing and everything she dreamed of but when she really saw who Bryce was later in the book she didn’t like him one bit. When Bryce was trying to apologize Juli always avoided him. At the end of the book, it even says “Maybe it’s time to meet him in the right lighting.” Which presses the idea even more of the life lesson. With the book being so descriptive it also helped even more to understand the life

During the summer vacation, I gladly came across “Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence” and "War Horse"; two inspiring, and heart warming books. Both managing to prove that hope and resilience can get you through the obstacles and struggles that you face in life. Despite the great portrayal of characters and the exquisite delivery of themes by both authors, I have managed to conclude that “Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence" was the highlight of my summer reading.

Due to her efforts to create a meaningful novel, Octavia Butler’s Kindred classifies as an AP book due to the novel’s ability to access multiple time periods as the book transitions between two

The book I chose to read for my book review was “ Killing Mr.Griffin”. It is about 5 high school students who hate their english teacher Mr. Griffin and come up with a plan to kidnap him. Their main purpose is to just torture and make Mr. Griffin think he is going to die. The plan takes a tragic turn and results in Mr. Griffin's death. The plan simply falls apart in a domino effect of terror and grief.
This book was fantastic for showing those incidents in the ways it sometimes
As a freshman in highschool, I had never heard of Jane Harper, or read any of her books before this. My English teacher challenged me to pick up a book and read it. Instantly, the cover caught my eye. The book looked like a very compelling novel, so I decided to read it. It just came out in September of 2016, so it is a very new book.
The journey I was taken on while reading the novel had a beneficial effect on myself, expressed significance to the world about a common topic and showed how the main character gradually changed throughout the story. I felt
It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and
and I had no idea what it was about just based off of the title. It was an easy read, and I enjoyed reading it at the same time. It always had you curious as to what will happen and how everything will play out. Through the whole book, it keeps you curious as to if he will get convicted or not and you do not find out until the very end. The only downside is that I did not like the way it was written.
The author, Sarah B. Pomeroy, writes this book in a style that resembles a textbook with many examples. She structures it in a timeline chronologically telling the events and breaking up the subject matter. The book lacked personality, although she had strong opinions that came through when writing the book, the style of writing lacked personality and was hard to read at times. The subject matter I found very interesting, considering it correlated with my class currently. At times, while I read this book, I found myself angry with men because of their brutal and thoughtfulness of women.
The book I have chosen to review is Boy 21, a fictional read that is written by Matthew Quick. Quick is a New York Times best-selling author debuting in novels such as The Silver Linings Playbook and Love May Fail. To best describe this book, it is a captivating read that is comforting for the mind, as it canvasses the raw and unflinching life of a high school senior who displays love for basketball and life relationships. Furthermore, set in a troubled Belmont city of Philadelphia, Quick incorporates the presence of mobs and violence which is captivating towards the reader and audience. I was intrigued about how the novel was written through Finley the main protagonist, which was Quick’s childhood perspective of life in Philadelphia and his passion towards basketball.
It taught me that strength and perseverance can make a significant impact in life. I also learned that forgiveness and the ability to forgive is much more powerful than I ever realized. This novel sucked me into the story and its characters and took me on an emotional ride of highs and lows. Finally, it forced me to reevaluate my previous judgement of the homeless.
When I first met someone who didn’t like the book I was beyond shocked. Right at that moment, I realized that reading has its own effects on me. Reading has changed my writing skills, it has improved my knowledge and lastly, it has helped me manage my stress while going through hard times. Without reading I wouldn’t be the person that I am today.
