Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) is a state agency, regulated and funded by the State of Florida and federal government, that is designed to help low-income Floridians with health insurance (Medicaid), food stamps, cash assistance, child protection investigation, refugee assistance, and so forth. The Agency’s mission is to protect the vulnerable, promote strong and economically self-sufficient families, and advance personal and family recovery and …show more content…
As a matter of fact, many of our customers tend to complain about the inconvenience they encounter while being served. Thus, we are going to discuss four main components of customer service inconvenience. First, Customers have often complained that they have to wait for up to 2 hours on the phone when calling the Department of Children and Families about their case status or inquiry, concerns, and other Medicaid-related issues. And sometimes, the call is dropped or hung up on purpose by the DCF employees. Second, for those who need to talk to a case manager, case worker, or clerical staff (about their case status, authentication purpose, Medicaid-card issues, interviews, and other issues) have to wait in line at the Access Service Center for about an hour to be called or served. Third, when the Agency’s website is down or slow due to technical glitch or regular maintenance, customers usually get frustrated or snapped at us, as DCF employees. Last, some care providers or third-party bill collectors often face the issue with Medicaid bill tracking, drug prescriptions, Medicaid full coverage, and medically needy cost-sharing, simply because the system makes an error or fails to provide to accurate

Consequently, “welfare expenditures increased $104.0 million which is attributed to increased state support required for the Medicaid program” (16). Last, Medicaid assistance exceeded its budget by $433,385,000 (173). The increases in expenses and funding for Medicaid assistance indicates a more pressing issue: increased resident dependence on Medicaid. Medicaid is primarily for those with lower income and disabilities, and its increased enrollment of 14.2% in 2016 should raise concerns.
Background statement: Heritage Valley Medical Center has had a wonderful reputation for providing excellent health care services to their community. Initially, their community was 80% Caucasian, 40% African American, and 5% Hispanic. However, in the last 5 years, the population has changed to more minorities and the whites have moved out to the suburbs. This caused the Center’s occupancy rate to go down 40% because many of their traditional, more affluent, private-pay patients had left the neighborhood. To bring in revenue, they campaigned to bring in more Medicaid patients.
In reviewing the Arizona Department of Education’s, (ADE) career and technical education (CTE) program standards for the emergency medical services (EMT), it became clear that the State of Arizona operates from an abbreviated version of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) standards. The curriculum for EMT is a national standard curriculum and is the foundation of EMS prehospital training. In addition, the new curriculum parallels the recommendations of the National EMS Education. The ADE, uses the National Registry for Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) testing as the summative assessment upon completion of the program secondary and post-secondary schools. Although the ADE has a significant role in the continuous success of EMT programs and curriculum, the students and educational programs are directed by the Arizona Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (AZBEMS).
To qualify and receive Medicaid, one of the criteria’s are to be poor and pregnant, which is also state funded. The funding cut from Planned Parenthood, will be used in other areas involving female medical services. Some are also wondering what
During the beginning of modern Europe, there were conflicting views on the proper way to view children. Previously in history, the infant mortality rate was very high, so kids were treated more like adults and were often neglected because odds were they would die. There was a resounding view that kids should be treated harshly in order to become strong. Then in the seventeenth century, the idea of being tender and gentle to your kids was introduced. The way in children were brought up was influenced by assumptions made on both old and new schools of thought.
A strength of PMHS service coordination units is that services are aimed to assist the “whole person.” We meet consumers at their levels, work on what is important to them and create an individualized approach to help each consumer. Additionally, strength of the unit is paperwork. From intake to closing, paperwork provides structure to the unit and stands something tangible for both consumers and SCs to see their progress, even if they still have more work before obtaining all of the consumer’s goals. On the other hand, limitations include a disproportion number of SCs compared to other unit.

We would also inform them of any appointments she has that may affect their visits. To use one of these service users as another example, our support workers reported that the lady had deteriorated and it was becoming unsafe to support her. We then contacted her other care agency to inform them and we also reported to all other professionals involved in her care. This included the district nurses, her G.P., physiotherapist, and the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). We arranged a full reassessment of her needs and reviewed her support
In Austin, Texas, members of the Texas State Board of Education use persuasion to gain votes for their personal beliefs on whether teaching methods and textbook standards should be revised or upheld. Among the board members are citizens who are a variety of educators. Also, there are experts who come to voice their knowledge of new findings, and debate about old and new educational facts. Although there were experts, there was much debate on spoken facts.
After the passage of the ACA, Minnesota was chosen to pilot a Medicaid program using ACOs to improve healthcare delivery because of the previous reforms that were made to the state’s Medicaid system. In 2008, the Minnesota state government passed the Health Care Reform Law which implemented the utilization of health homes to provide Medicaid services and a revision of the state’s quality and monitoring system of the Medicaid program (Edwards, 2013). The law was also expanded to use ACOs after the passage of the ACA, in order to provide more comprehensive care for Medicaid beneficiaries (Edwards, 2013). The use of the ACOs “forged a partnership to redesign the health care workforce and improve the coordination of the physical, behavioral, social, and economic dimensions of care” for Medicaid beneficiaries (Sandberg, Erikson, Owen, Vickery, Shimotsu, Linzer, Garrett, Johnsrud, Soderlund, & DeCubellis, 2014). To ensure the success of the program, the state also developed a safety-net program to ensure that Medicaid recipients would continue to receive quality care to meet their health care needs, if the pilot program
Describe the actions to take if a child or young person alleges harm or abuse in line who policies and procedures of own setting. If a child alleges harm or abuse it is vital that the person that they tell are trained to deal with this effectively so that the child can be reassured that they have done the right thing and that the allegation can be acted upon. During my time at placement I was given the role of a Nursery Assistant; My duties were to plan and prepare activities for children, read stories, nappy change them, observe and make notes for use in their reports. I was also a key worker for one child, I had to monitor their progress and share information about their development with their parents and carers. The setting was a warm and welcoming environment, I found that all of the staff were very friendly and reassuring. The placement lasted for four weeks and I worked from Monday to Friday from 8:30AM to 5:30PM. On my first day I arrived at 10AM for my induction and was introduced by the manager of the setting to the other members of staff.
When children and teens commit a violent crime such as murder, courts convict them as adults. This means that children as young as eight have been tried as adults in court. Eventually, these convicts will be housed in jails with adults. Despite the federal law stating that juvenile and adult inmates must be separated, most states do not comply with these rules. Furthermore, a law that varies throughout the states is the age in which courts send the children to adult or juvenile prisons.
Child Neglect- the negligent treatment or maltreatment of a child by a parent or by a caretaker under circumstances indicating harm or threatened harm to the child’s health or welfare. Child neglect is something different than actual abuse although some may argue it is some form of abuse, reported cases of neglect outnumbered those of physical abuse. There is that very fine line between actual neglect and poor parenting; it covers a wide range of activities, and there is no single set of factors established that clearly divides neglect and poor parenting if child neglect is detected everything must be viewed with caution. Parent that neglect their children hold a certain set of characteristics they have an inability to
