Fly ash, a coal combustion product consisting fine particles is a residual, waste matter arising from the combustion of coal from boilers used for the steam generation power plant at GHCL. Its disposal at GHCL has become a huge problem. The study aims at understanding the characteristics of the generated fly ash in detail and will investigate about finding innovative, possible solution for addressing the fly ash disposal problem at GHCL.
Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Ltd. (GHCL) was establish in March 1988, by investment of $220 million at Sutrapada, Gujarat. The plant manufactures high-grade dense & light soda ash, for domestic and international use. GHCL is distinguished by its growth, financial performance and outstanding people and processes.

After that it goes in to the economiser where bottom ash is separated out at the bottom part of economiser. After that it will pass through air preheater where air is provide for the coal down the temperature of gas-fly ash mixture and at last it will pass through electrostatic precipitator or bag house where impurities will separated out based on principle of Anion- Cation and rest of the ash is collect at bottom part of the bag house and gases goes in to the stack where gases is liberated directly in to the atmosphere and we get 70-90 % fly ash as a …show more content…
From this paper we get a idea about use of fly ash in the adsorbent use and for that some basic characteristics like unburnt carbon substances, alumina & silica content are the basic responsible. At the end of experiment conclusion is percentage of color removed increase with quantity of absorbent and contact time increase while percentage of color removal is decrease with increase in concentration and PH values and temperature of dye.
From this paper we come to know about the use of fly ash in absorbsion for phosphate removal. To use for phosphate removal fly ash have high concentration of calcium and we come to know about the discharge limits for phosphate content till 0.5-1 mg/L. The advantage for using fly ash as absorbent instead of lime is that it does not produce any excess chemical
Agnes Maples, 90, would have been forced to pay hefty fines of up to $2,500 per day if she did not get her property cleaned up. Her neighbors had complained about the messy yard, but little did they know, it wasn't actually Maples' mess. A relative of the elderly widow's had been storing his belongings and dumping his trash in her yard for years. When the city decided to take action against Maples, she tried to get her relative to move his junk, but he would not remove it and the task proved to be too difficult for Maples to do on her own.
Sherpa fire in Santa Barbara grows to 4,000 acres overnight, putting about 140 homes at risk and closing down major freeways according to federal officials. The fire started on Wednesday afternoon on coastal hills north of Santa Barbara. It had moved through overgrown hillsides and canyons that have not been burned in over 60 years because of the hot and dry weather and notorious “sundowner” winds. Sundowners, similar to Santa Ana winds, fuel many of the fires in the Santa Barbara County.
Through out the history of the United States, a number of incidents and disasters have occurred to influence safety and protection. In the aftermath of these events, valuable lessons are learned and steps are taken to ensure nothing like that happens again. One such incident is the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire, one of the most influential and horrifying incidents in United States history. The fact that both the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) and National Safety Council (NSC) trace their history back to this incident speaks to that. Sadly, the tragic events that unfolded during the Triangle fire were not surprising.
Al, I am considering sending the following statement (blue) to Coalfire. Thoughts? I believe Coalfire is attempting to expand scope in the form of requiring Multiple, on-demand assessments. A definite increase in scope as instead of sampling a few LPA Office, they would then perform Multiple, on-demand assessments on all LPA sites. As per PCI_DSS_v3-2 Third-Party Service Provider Definition: Use of Third-Party Service Providers / Outsourcing
“To live with the Santa Ana is to accept, consciously or unconsciously, a deeply mechanistic view of human behavior”(Joan Didion). After reading “The Santa Ana” by Joan Didion and “Brush Fire” by Linda Thomas readers are able to compare that both authors lived in the California and experienced all the types of different behaviors that was caused by the Santa Ana winds. These two authors describe the event completely differently and give their own point of view of this event by using similar techniques. They also give two different type of tones through their stories. Comparing “The Santa Ana” by Joan Didion and “Brush Fires” by Linda Thomas, readers will find that both stories are similar.
Forest fires are uncontrolled fires in nature. They happen all over the world. Forest fires may be beneficial to many organisms in the environment. Forest fires burn the smaller, weaker, and low growing plants. This allows the other plants to grow healthier, without smaller ones using up their resources.
Work Ethic Wildland firefighting is hard work, which hard work is not measured equally and has changed drastically over the generations. Work ethic is an essential component of the fireline due to the extreme hazards that are encountered. In order to go home at the end of the day it is crucial for wildland firefighters to have a strong character, a clear sense of teamwork/team cohesion, and dedication. These qualities help to comprise a well rounded and sought after wildland firefighter.
Most young adults in the United States cannot wait to turn 21, so they can drink alcohol, but not this girl. I was from a smaller community and rarely ventured farther than the rusted barb wire fences of my families ranch. However, shortly after my 21st birthday life began to change. Applications got submitted, then came interviews, tests and more interviews. “You’re hired” said a voice on the other end of the phone.
In preparation for this paper I chose to read Fire in the ashes: twenty five years among the poorest children in America by Jonathan Kozol. In this book Kozol has followed these children and their family’s lives for the past twenty five years. In his writing Kozol portrays a point of view most from his background and standing would not be capable of having. He portrays what life is like for those who have been let down by the system that was meant to protect them. Kozols writing style can be very blunt at times, not for shock value, but for the sake of portraying these children’s realities, and not sugarcoating the inequalities that they are faced with.
It is important to the environment that there be controlled fires for any number of reasons such as, putting the nutrients back into the soil, and clearing out debris that could be hazardous if a wildfire were to occur. This does not come with out it 's faults, sometimes the fire becomes to big to handle and they become near misses or wildfires. Prescribed fires are great for the ecosystem and the overall well being of forests. They make ecosystems more diverse and replenish the soil for new plant growth. When they do controlled fires they greatly reduce the chances of there being an extreme wildfire in that area.
“A painting showing an early factory plant shows that the smoke rising from the factory was black and full of coal ashes, affecting the air. Also, because the factory is next to water, it can be assumed that the factory has dumped into this water, causing it also to become polluted”(Document 3). Yes, wonderful products came from these factories; things like clothing and cars, but coal was being used to power these machines that produced. Black coal ash rose up into the sky and was being breathed in by the people and animals. Coal is not the best thing for people’s lungs.
It used up a lot of coal that was burned in a firebox to heat it and get the steam running so it starts
“Brush Fire” by Linda Thomas and “Santa Ana” by Joan didion are essays written about the Santa Ana winds of southern California. These malevolent winds start as a cool high pressure front in the Great Basin east of California. As the wind from the high pressure system fall down the back side of the mountains east of southern California. As the winds fall down the west side of the mountains they are warmed by the desert and sun and increase in temperature and speed as they wind through the narrow mountain passes and canyons producing an extremely hot dry wind that torments Southern California and northern Baja Mexico. Both Thomas and Didion have different views on the wind they seem to agree on one thing, that everyone knows when the winds are
The gas (gasoline) division is advance cultured and through an assortment of procedures is changed over into the fuel we control our autos with, warmth homes, and cook our nourishment. Certain parts of the gas division are evacuated (depentanized) and others have their substance structure changed (isomerized). A couple dirtying impacts are cleared (desulfurized), and others have portions added to convey the last thing (reformulated fuel).
