Advantages and Disadvantages The William and Mary Research model is thorough and systematic. This is the major advantage I notice, and I think its effectiveness is in the structure it provides for both students and teachers. Teachers are able to clearly model each phase throughout the research process because each phase is clearly defined. Students are able to understand the relevance of each individual phase and the practicality of the progression. This is important because students are able to understand the why behind the content and the process, and this enables them to own and self-monitor their learning.
This behaviour is mentioned in the Adaptive Leadership Model conceived by Heifetz and his colleagues. Essentially, a person who is able to adapt to change while remaining comfortable in unfamiliar situations will be much better suited to new and stressful situations. I believe that this is a behaviour which is crucial for my academic success because every class in which I enroll presents me with new experiences and challenges. If I am able to avoid the distress that comes with these new challenges, I will be better suited to focus on the task at hand rather than worry about the stresses involved with the new experience. In order to better regulate my distress, I need to take specific actions suggested by the Adaptive model.
I was gratified when Lynn noticed that I endeavored to involve the class and help them understand that my subject and its content was important to us all. Based on the positive feedback from classmates, I know that my efforts to ensure my voice was loud and clear when speaking and that my words were articulate and easily understood, were successful. In retrospect I recognize that I could have improved on some of the content. If I were to do this presentation again I would focus on the complications that could occur if a patient’s UTI went unnoticed or was left untreated. My peers commented that additional visual aids such as diagrams or photos would have been educational and one student said additional activities would have been helpful.
School has driven me to be more ambitious and more conscious of my actions and experiences. So far high school has taught me the basic knowledge that I will need in life like how to solve problems which do not have straightforward or easy answers, and how to work effectively either with others or alone. In most of my classes critical thinking and analysing is the way to solve problems. I have learned to appreciate the importance of communication through effective speech and debate. High school has taught me many skills that will be helpful later in my career of work ethics, social behavior between peers and leadership.
Taking this On Course class has helped me learn many things about myself. One of the things I learned is that I am capable of being a successful student if I continue to use the creator 's mindset and always thinking about the positive side in every situation. Even though I have to continue working on self-motivation and self-management a little more, it is helping me get on track with all my exams and assignments that I need to work on. I am a young student with great potential and I have learned that believing in myself is the key in being a successful
A mentor in nursing is defined as someone who can facilitate learning, supervise and asses nursing students in a practice setting. This in turn produces efficient and effective students who become competent and will have mastered the craft and art of caring. Mentorship is significant to students as it helps students develop their professional identities, attributes and competence and also enables students to learn through the creation of the supportive working and learning environment as an individual (Clutterbuck 2004). Decisions taken by mentors in assessing students have significant impacts on securing the nursing workforce in the future. This is because they help safeguard the ongoing excellence in the delivery of personalized patient care while making a major contribution to the development of the nursing profession.
Not only did I find her very welcoming and inclusive, but she was also a resourceful and dedicated mentor. Throughout the course of this internship, I developed many new skills, but I was also faced with varied challenges. One of the biggest challenges was the diversity of my students, which included their various learning needs and styles. Through the use of differentiation, I was able to accommodate for these needs. This experience also made me realize the importance of preparation and planning, not only for myself, but my students.
Techniques such as scaling allow counselors and clients to determine whether a problem is mild or severe, by asking the client to identify the severity of the issue. This is tremendously helpful because it may help a student gain insight into certain problems. Solution talk is also a tremendous factor because students need a great sense of uplifting and optimism. One of my favorite concepts used in brief therapy is “The miracle question.” This allows student’s to conceptualize and work out plans ahead of time as well throughout therapy sessions. Overall, solution focused therapy offers a great deal of benefits for both students and clients wanting to solve issues sooner than
It has improved on my overall success because I am able to listen to critiscim with an open mind and learn from it. I am also able to connect with people because I allow myself to empathisize with whom I am speaking with. Professional doors have opened to me becuase people remember the way they felt when they feel they are truly be
Making the right questions and showing your eagerness to study is a part of good communication which makes people inclined towards explaining and assisting you with their wisdom. To be able to gain as much knowledge as possible, we have to learn from numerous sources, and one of the best approaches is to learn from others’ experience. Attempting that requires us to showcase our will in appropriate manners and the other party to approve of us, which relates to the point that I mentioned earlier about how good communication can help us in establishing relationships, hence make people more open to share and help us. To sum up, I completely understand the value of communication in CA and have been preparing myself with the best I could so as to avoid and battle the potential hardships that I might encounter in the future. As a result, I find that my communication skills are not seriously lacking and hopefully I will not have to encounter major hindrances in forthcoming CA.
