In the twentieth century, the government of the United States began taking more of an interest in the food industry. Soon after the twentieth century began, the government realized the harsh conditions in the factories and how unsanitary they were so they went from favoring big businesses to passing laws against the cruelties they did and regulating the items sold in the United States. The government’s regulation of the food industry in American history has evolved from them ignoring the problems and letting factories do what they wanted in the nineteenth century, to them having full control over the food industry in the present-day by passing laws and creating organizations such as the Meat Inspection Act, Pure Food and Drug Act, and the Food

The code addresses controls for risk factors to protect consumer health. There were five key interventions established to achieve this goal of addressing risk factors. These interventions are: demonstration of knowledge, employee health controls, controlling hands as a vehicle of contamination, time and temperature parameters for pathogen control, and consumer advisory. The goal of the Food Code is to regulate food processing. This goal is achieved in many ways, but a few are: setting a proper holding temperature for food, identifying incompetent cooking (raw food), restricting contaminated cooking equipment, finding safe sources for food, and setting standards for the personal hygiene of people around and handling food.
Ryan Hogan OT-525 9-21-15 While taking the health risk assessment I knew right from the start that some of the information would be off. The assessment asked about things such as blood pressure and cholesterol, and I do not know these measures right of the top of my head. While looking at the results, it stated that I am at risk of dying within the next 10 years. When comparing my risk percentages to the average 27 year old male, I did very well and was average compared to the others. However one factor that I scored above average on was the chance of a heart attack.
