In the article "Number of No-Huddle Offenses on the Rise" author John Marshall pints out an advantage that the No-huddle offense has by saying, "the no-huddle gave the defense no time to adjust, leaving coaches unable to make the substitutions they wanted and players to figure out what to do on the fly instead of having 40 seconds to get input from the sideline or think about the upcoming assignment" (Marshall). This is true! Football is a game of advantages. Teams are starting to see that the defense gets tired quickly while trying to keep up with the offense. Also, the defense can not get the signals from the coach and if they do they can not process it before the ball snaps.
Yeah, I understand why they want to protest and make themselves heard, but they are doing it in an incredibly disrespectful way. I’m sure there are plenty of other ways they could think of to get their message across, but what they’re doing is just really unnecessary. By kneeling during the national anthem, the players are being very rude to all of the brave men and women who have risked their lives and died fighting for and defending America. If it wasn’t for these people, the NFL wouldn’t exist and those players wouldn’t have jobs, and especially wouldn’t be making the millions of dollars that they do. I don’t think the NFL was trying to be offensive towards the military, but they were and it’s not okay.
It 's not a NFL player 's job to be role model 's for young children. If you think it 's that bad you should write them a letter or send them a email, but that won 't listen, there PRO football players. There not going to want to listen to you. Also what is so bad about showboating? Everyone does it.
This matter is displeasing because this player shouldn’t have to apologize for doing the correct thing, while his teammates did not. Tons of young children who aspire to be athletes in life watch football. Seeing athletes kneel could set a bad example for kids. If matters begin to worsen dealing with the national anthem, it may become optional for teams or sports. But if our country works together, we can put an end to disrespecting the flag.
The side effects of steroids are serious consequences that athletes face in sports because the harmful damages being done to their health is a painful reminder that cheating is the wrong way to go. Typically the athletes using the steroids are unaware of how dangerous the effects are to the body. Often enough, it is known that when athletes use steroids they can not control their raging anger and it leads them to participate in violent acts of behavior. In addition, steroids can interfere with the immune system by creating blood clots and having possible heart attacks. Zev Chafets states “In a rage, they formed a posse to drive the users out of the game,” and “Purist say that steroids alter the game” (22).
When making a tackle a linebacker must have good form, without good form they will miss many opposing players. The first step to tackling is breaking down, or gathering one’s self. If they do not do that they will run right past the opposing player. Second is that they keep their head up and they put their “eyes to the thighs” which means put the facemask of the helmet right on their thighs. Third the linebacker wraps up the opposing player and squeezing so he doesn’t get away, and also drives him back until the whistle is blown.
However, is it worth it especially at an early age. Parent’s should not allow their children to play football because it causes life-threatening concussions, abuse on the minds and body. Parents should not allow their children to play football because of concussions and CTE. Concussions and Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy (CTE) is a main reason that doctors and many health professionals are urging parents to reconsider allowing their children to play football at an early age or ever. “Football in its most basic form is game, rooted in violence and physical domination, hitting and tackling, knocking your opponent,”(Hruby).
Have you ever told yourself “I want to be famous one day?” There are many pros and cons to being famous. I have heard many people say they would like to be famous, but in reality being famous would make life a little more complicated in my opinion. Football Hero is a story that teaches a valuable lesson that is true for even a modern teen: being famous is not a perfect life. In Football Hero, the author uses conflict to teach us the there are many negatives about being famous which is this story 's theme. For example, Thane is hunted down by a ex gang member who wants to break his leg; hence, he isn 't enjoying being well know as a millionaire.
For NFL player, Colin Kaepernick, this is a major issue. He expresses this protest as “much bigger than football,” and he believes it would be selfish of him to not take a stand (Gregory et. al.). Many professional athletes would agree with Kaepernick about the protest, and they believe that they are not held at an authority in this country, and they have unequal rights compared to the average citizen. Other than the NFL, these protests have carried on to lower levels of athletics and education, even high schools.
They made offensive holding a penalty. Offensive holding is where the lineman holds the defensive lineman to where he can’t go by him. But isn`t that the offensive lineman`s job to block the defense and protect the ball. After a while the defense starts to complain and cry to the referees and they eventually throw a flag. The referees wouldn’t throw a flag if the offence was complaining, so why should they for the defense.
Concussions themselves are a controversial topic simply because of their destructive forces on the lives of everyone, ranging from people who tripped and fell a little too hard, to people who make a career of hitting other people as hard as they possibly can. There are many people opposed to the idea of football’s inherent violence, yet advocates of the sport claim that removing the factor of colliding would make a completely different sport that cannot even be called football, which itself has become so ingrained in American society that it practically owns a day of the week from Week One of preseason to the closing seconds of the Superbowl. The fact remains though that if football were to suddenly cease existing, many people would be jobless,
Can we make this sport safe without ruining the thrill? Solving this problem involves not only educating the public, but also eliminating head-first tackles and providing better equipment. Undoubtedly, football is a difficult, treacherous sport but currently no measures are being taken to improve players’ safety. Small things could make a big difference in the NFL. People are getting hurt before our very eyes, and we don’t do a thing about it, we should be appalled our lack of action and let it motivate us to make improvements and needed
Players are now getting penalized and even fined for hitting the head. This concussion “injury” should not be an issue because of the bigger problem that has arose. This has changed the game of football to tacking at the feet or leg area. The results are torn ACL’s, MCL’s, and hip injuries. This effectively ends that player’s season
Miller believes that they don’t understand the importance of football as a sport because they only see it for its negative statistics. The people who want to ban football because they don’t give a chance. They just speak on how violent the sport is, while also lacking even the slightest knowledge of the actual topic at hand. This is why Miller calls all of them ignorant because they talk about how many major injuries that players can receive from the ‘violent sport,’ while also forgetting that players willingly sign concussion sheets. This means that players know that they could possibly be harmed, but that’s with any sport.
