Defining Motivation

Sometimes people get motivated in different ways, but some people have similar motivations. The motivation can be a quote, a goal, or something else. Hannah Herbst wanted to help people. She was motivated by the fact that she could help other people and do it with something she likes, specifically science. Alexander Hamilton wanted to help his country and the people in it.
These motivations are the reason an individual participates in the activity, either for an intrinsic or extrinsic reward. In my swimming career I have noticed that Motivation of an athlete varies based on the individual and can be applied accordingly by the coach when coach/athlete relationship is increased. An example of an intrinsic motivated individual was when I was shown a lane of individuals that weren’t necessarily the strongest swimmers but included a few athletes that are doing a second sport. I was informed that many of them compete for their personal enjoyment. These swimmers strived for personal improvement by some of the swimmers putting personal goals on their kickboard as they kicked.
First, both intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors are pivotal to achieving optimal performance (i.e. athletic performance) as being self-motivated and self-driven is highly associated with high intrinsic motivation and high achievement. Second, there are psychological outcomes, such as feelings of guilt, pleasure, success, or failure, as well as stress, which can result from one’s motivational orientation. Third, it can be argued that one’s perceived locus of causality is influenced by both internal factors (i.e., personality) and external factors (i.e., social, contextual), which affects one’s performance motivation.
They both convey the message of being able to keep your head up and to achieve your goals. In “What’s your Motivation?” the audience sees a young boy getting up before dawn while everybody is fast asleep in their beds. One sees him strive for improvement because he was told to quit and the coaches never noticed him. The boy uses this as his motivation.

This also ties in with the idea that each person strives to fulfill their biological needs.
Motivation is defined as the process that guides, initiates, and maintains goal-oriented behaviours (Cherry, 2015). It comes when a person is willing to sacrifice his own time, money and energy to do well in a particular task. Motivation is an inherent action that provides us impulse to do something in order to achieve our goals. In fact, individual emotional and motivational aspects should be considered [17]. Motivation is defined as a desire to make an attempt in order to perform duties and responsibilities and to use individual skills [18]. Academic motivation refers to behaviors that lead to learning and improvement [19]. It includes the tendency to perform well and to spontaneously evaluate one's own performance. Experts have devided motivation into two main groups, namely intrinsic and extrinsic motivation.
In so doing, the students will have the need for achievement as the dominant motivating driver and thus will result in the tendency to accomplish assignments. In addition, the both students and teachers should identify the factors that result in dissatisfaction and try to eliminate them while at the same time embracing those that lead to

Motivation at school is an important factor because our learners are young and what they need is an experienced person, a facilitator or a motivator who is going to lead them towards the road of success. Since, they are inexperienced they will have to be trained to become mentally, physically and emotionally strong. In relation to Physical Education, Motivation is the key for successful teaching and learning to take place. It can be said that winning things can be very important because if an athlete keeps on training and there is no positive results, then this can affect the mental status. This is why extrinsic motivation is important.
School and teachers can influence the extent and quality of learning for all students. Teacher’s beliefs, practices and attitudes are important for understanding and improving educational processes. They are closely linked to teachers’ strategies for coping with challenges in their daily professional life. Educators have control over numerous factors that influence motivation, achievement and behaviour of students. They are turning around their approach into a focus on creating positive school climate and responsive classroom as part of holistic quality education based on child rights where there is effective teaching and classroom management, thus enhancing students’ learning experiences.
