Both Marco and Destiny had guidance but they were able to use methods and strategies that were taught to them during teacher preparation and apply it to their situations. Marco and Destiny could have been easily discouraged to continue their teaching careers but decided to continue and help the students with the resources that were giving to them as well as redesign curriculums to better fit the students’ needs while meeting the state
I learned that it is important to get the foot in the door by taking necessary actions as an undergrad to get myself prepared for graduate school. One of these steps is to work in a research lab. They suggested to prolong the time working in a single lab to advance the level of responsibilities as the advisor become more acquainted with their research assistants. The advisors will eventually write good letters of recommendations. Thus, it is necessary to reach out now to the right advisors who work in the department I will would like to work at, and see if they are looking for assistance.
As for my part in this company, I feel the best role that I would excel at for the Educate to Hydrate organization would be the part as an Advocacy Director. For my Myers-Brigg results, I am an ESFJ personality type. I am a detail-oriented person and I plan ahead of time of my goals, schedule conflicts, and time management in order to avoid procrastination. These skills could be incorporated into identifying Educate to Hydrate’s advocacy goals and strategies. I also feel that in building relationships for this organization, I could use my excellent communication skills in order to work with organizational partners and networks so that our professional relationship can ensure the overall success of the company.
This being said, one can say that the pivotal assertion of functional leadership theory is that team conditions imply certain decisive leadership behaviours for success (Zaccaro et al., 2001). By saying that “leadership processes influence team effectiveness by their effects on four sets of team processes: cognitive, motivational, effective, and coordination” (Zaccaro et al., 2001:453), these researchers helped to break ground for processes calibration within the functional
The sponsor provides the mentoree influential networks, links them to valuable resources, provides career guidance and development, and is the mentoree’s advocate to the organization. These things develop the mentoree and can accelerate their leadership formation. Organizations should always be looking for potential leaders and providing Sponsor mentors for retention and organizational improvement. In summary, “Sponsorship is a relational process in which a mentor having credibility and positional or spiritual authority within an organization or network relates to a mentoree not having those resources so as to enable development of the mentoree and the mentoree’s influence in the organization.” (Stanley and Clinton 124) Finally, the last type of mentoring is passive and is called Model mentoring. The model mentor can either be contemporary (currently living) or historical (ceased).
In his book, Tom Rath (2008) discusses strengths based leadership and reviews the data from the Gallup StrengthsFinder assessment and examines the domains of being an effective leader and why people follow leaders. Rath (2008) finds: the most effective leaders are always investing in strengths, the most effective leaders surround themselves with the right people and then maximize their team, and the most effective leaders understand their followers needs (p. 2-3). He reveals teams are formulated from four domains of leadership strength: Executing, Influencing, Relationship Building, and Strategic Thinking (Rath, 2016, p.23). Effective leaders know their strengths and combine them with skills and expertise to achieve optimal results. The
Briley Belling, Weekly Reflection # 8 How does the teacher plan the day, week, semester, year? My cooperating teacher keeps all lesson plans in a binder that are organized by each week, with the dates and times. There a spot next to each day, to write a note about the lesson being taught, the student activity, or an event that is happening. This way, there is a nice layout of the week, and what is happening and when. The content that is taught each quarter of the year, is planned in advanced with the grade-level team.
We need to learn how the students learn and teach in that way. We need to work with the different programs and embed technology as much as possible. We need to try new things, accept that not all will work, but at least be willing to try. My favorite quality of a good teacher is the love. They must display to each student that they do care for them individually.
Where I went to school will be a major part of my identity when the employer evaluates my candidacy. My employer will hire me because of the expectation that I will posses the analytical skills and leadership as other Ross students do. Because I am aware of my future employer’s expectation on me, I place an extraordinary amount of effort and energy into my academic and extracurricular activities, which will enrich my technical knowledge and train my leadership skills. Having Ross student as a part of my identity, I realize that everything I do will also affect other people’s perception on Ross student in general. Thus I will be responsible for my own behaviors, for both my personal brand and the perception about Ross graduates depends on my
In this school/district, staff development learning methods mirror, as closely as possible, the methods teachers are expected to use with their students. According to the apparent practices of administration, there are two areas that Canby Lane Elementary School excels in Professional Development opportunities that greatly impact student achievement and align with the Standards of Professional Learning: 1. According to Learning Forward (2015), professional learning produces changes in educator practice and student learning when it sustains implementation support over time. Canby Lane administration ensures that support is given over time by utilizing weekly grade level and faculty meetings to provide PD opportunities for professional growth. During these meetings, teachers perform various tasks such as analyze student performance on district, school- wide and grade level tasks as well as conduct vertical team meetings to determine trends in performance among ascending and descending grade levels.
As the education coordinator, I will first approach my subject matter as a system itself. I will design my materials first by identifying their purpose, then second their function and finally deriving the structure of the educational materials from the necessary functions. In developing educational materials, I will also want to familiarize myself with my students as I know that according to communication models they may interpret what I communicate differently than I intend due to how they “decode” (Nelson, Staggers, 2014). Once I have an understanding for what my students know, I will move forward by assessing their learning styles as I believe that is an incredibly valuable thing for an educator as well as a student to know. Now that I know what my students know and how
