Jose Doroteo Arango Arambula also known as Francisco Villa or as we know him Pancho Villa was born June 5, 1878 and was one of the most important Mexican Revolutionary general in Mexico. Pancho Villa was born Doroteo Arango, the son of a sharecropper at the hacienda in San Juan Del Rio, Durango. While growing up, Pancho Villa witnessed and experienced the harshness of peasant life. In Mexico during the late 19th century, the rich were becoming richer by taking advantage of the lower classes, often treating them like slaves. When Villa was 15, his father died, so Villa began to work as a sharecropper to help support his mother and four siblings.
He was a professor for seven years in the Albuquerque high school and he also was the director of counseling at the University of Albuquerque. In the University of New Mexico he was the associate professor and later professor of English. Rudolfo retired and has emeritus status at the University of Albuquerque. Rudolfo started to write when he was in college, and after that his wife encouraged him to pursue a carrier on writing. When Bless Me Ultima was published, he decided to enter the English program at the University of New Mexico as a professor.
Hernando de Soto was a noteworthy Spanish explorer in the early to mid 1500s. He was born in Jerez de los Caballeros, Spain, in the year 1500. As a young adult he attended the University of Salamanca, his tuition was paid by the generous Pedro Arias Dávila. Although his family repeatedly told him that they wanted him to study and become a lawyer, Hernando de Soto had other ideas. He wanted to be an explorer in the West Indies.
Discovering all of these islands made him a very big figure back in Europe. Lots of people, especially the Spaniards, looked at him as a great explorer who brought back new items from the islands of the New World. He was and still is, a very important figure in Spanish culture because he helped found the island of San Salvador. Most of his discoveries, though, were on the trips that he led to find new lands. On his first trip, he took three widely known ships, the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria.
The two men are prime examples of surpassing even their own expectations. Christopher Columbus is known to be the one who established America, although his intention was to find a direct water route west from Europe to Asia. He didn 't technically “discover” America, for millions had already inhabited the land. When Columbus returned to the Americas he left his brothers Bartolomeo and Diego to rebuild the Hispaniola settlement, leaving with them crew members and native slaves. Columbus took native slaves of his own when he sailed west to continue his search for gold and treasures.
Thomas Jefferson had dreamed of exploring the West for a long time before he had even become President. In 1783 he had asked Clark's brother, George, to take on the challenge of exploring the Louisiana Territory. After finally purchasing the Louisiana Territory, Jefferson asked, his secretary of state, Lewis to go on the journey. Lewis was very intelligent and trustworthy, and after being given specific instructions and properly trained, he began the expedition on August 30, 1803 in Pittsburgh PA. He also wrote his first story at the age of seven years and was the only child of his parents, "Adolfo Bioy Casares and Marta." Adolfo was the son of "a wealthy landowner, and his wife, Marta Casares. He spent his childhood in both the city and the family ranch in the province of Buenos Aires.

Sir Francis Drake is known to many as a hero and one of the greatest early European navigators. Drake’s accomplishments as an explorer are some of the most important accomplishments and are not to be forgotten. Sir Francis Drake’s accomplishments are lesser known to those in the United States but are still in effect. One way Drake’s legacy continues on in present times is through a road named after him.
