Huong Le – 3423455 HIST 1302 – 22301 Professor Cameron Sinclair, Ph.D Unit 3 – Exam Part 1 Questions: 1. In Document 1, how does Franklin D. Roosevelt characterize World War II and the threat posed by fascism and Nazi Germany? Had he survived, do you think Roosevelt would have characterized the Cold War and the Soviet Union in the same way? Why, or why not?
Throughout history there has been many great presidents, two of those being George Washington and Franklin D. Roosevelt. During each of their presidencies they accomplish many great feats that help shape our great country to what it is today. Each of these presidents has their similarities and differences in office with some of those being domestic and foreign affairs and the extent in which the administration resolves it. Washington was the first president of our country and did not affiliate with a party. He served two four year terms.
The president also transformed millions of acres of unused land into timberland reforestation and sponsored social programs, such as Boy Scouts of America (Pg. 24-25). By physically representing “material benefits of the welfare state to millions of rural Americans from every region of the country”, Roosevelt was able to spread the New Deal program. This is illustrated through the specific placement of Corps forestry projects in forested regions, such as New England, Mid-Atlantic, Great Lakes, and the West Coast, where his support for the 1932 election was weak (Pg. 76). This rise of support in every region of the country is a primary example of how the CCC work influenced the conservation and the

On January 11th, 1944, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR) gave the annual State of the Union Address, (SotU) which was professional and insightful, yet flawed. As most things go, FDR’s SotU Address was presented with faulty arguments; however convincing the arguments may have been. These are called fallacies. In a fallacy, you try to persuade a person to do something by giving an argument of an ethical, emotional, and/or logical nature with false evidence.
(quote) “It is common sense to take a method and try it. If it fails, admit it frankly and try another. But above all, try something!”(FDR). (background)FDR , the 32nd president,, stated this at Oglethorpe university, May 22, 1932. (explanation)
The election of 1932 won by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt gave the American people hope with his plan, FDR’s New Deal, in which his solution to the Great Depression was to interfere and pass laws to help people at the bottom of the pyramid such as farmers and urban workers and stabilizing the economy by making changes within itself, currencies and other nations. “Using the power of radio to communicate directly with the American people, Roosevelt delivered regular fireside chats in which he boosted morale and informed his audience of the steps the government was taking to help solve their problems”. The New Deal was said to “…provide relief, put millions of people to work, raise prices for farmers, extend conservation projects, revitalize America’s financial system, and rescue capitalism”. To help farmers and agriculture, the Agricultural Adjustment Act was passed in order for farmers to stop producing too much by granting them subsidies.
This act demonstrates how President Roosevelt helped Americans in their dark times by providing so much hope for all of the lower

13). The evidence shows that despite the fact the black people worked hard day and night the farmers still felt that they weren’t good enough and replaced them with white people who acted in the same fashion as the black people who had just been relieved of those positions which served simply to create a rise in
As citizens we tend to elect our leaders, especially the president, based on promises, reputation, and life decisions. When voting for the next president of the Unites States we are simply voting for the person whose character we like best. Their promises and platforms reveal what they believe in and their statements and arguments reveal what they truly stand for. For the citizens of the Unites States character is a extremely important factor in determining who they vote for because character reveals the personality and beliefs of the president. However we must acknowledge that Presidents are also human and they make personal decision due to what they see best for them and not the rest of the country.
The speaker is Franklin Delano Roosevelt is trying to convince congress to go to war with japan for bombing pearl harbor(December 8, 1941); The speech is a persuasive speech but also a rally at the same time because he knows that they will probably go to war, he used words such as “disastrous” and “infamy” to describe the attack on the U.S, he uses small phrases such as “last night” and “so help us god” witch gave people a sense of nationality they haven 't felt before, and made them want to get revenge and fight the japanese (japs). He uses repetition and anadiplosis to repeat his message and drive what he is saying into his spectators/listeners heads, as well as pre-empting, which makes things sound way more serious and crucial and get back at them for what they 've done. Roosevelt 's purpose was to make the people of the U.S.A. to want to fight the Japanese empire in order to get them back for what they 've done to us. President Roosevelt is addressing Congress and people of the

On a hot, sticky day in June without a cloud in the sky, I walked in the cool shadow of a great political leader and the impact he made on the United States during one of the most trying times of this country. I was in Washington D.C. for the National Rural Electric Youth Tour touring the famous monuments and memorials with over 100 Pennsylvania students. As I walked around, the statues came to life teaching me about the strength these men had to lead our country. I walked with the 32nd president, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, through his four terms and felt the weight of his responsibilities on my shoulders. I learned from these outstanding men who loved our country and dedicated their lives to making it remarkable.
