Has the idea of “freedom and fear” changed over time?
People, technology, and our world are a few of the many things that people change over time. Freedom and fear are two of the few things that haven 't changes over time. In “The Four Freedoms” by Franklin D. Rosevelt, he states that the United States is destined to get into another war because they have to protect their four major freedoms, which are speech and expression, freedom of every person to worship God in his own way, freedom from want, and freedom from fear. In this speech, Franklin D. Rosevelt emphasizes his interest to bring all of these freedoms that the United States is fighting for to the entire world. In his speech he also states “I find it, unhappily, necessary to report
The United States of America is, and continues to be, associated in many people’s minds with freedom. A handful of individuals between 1400-1800 CE can be held accountable for this conceptualization of American Freedom. Some men such as Samuel Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson aided or attempted to aid the African slaves imported to the British colonies during the 18th century in there fight for freedom. Meanwhile a large portion of the white population in the colonies was being denied basic civil liberties and omitting John and Abigail Adams no one seemed to care. One man in this time appears to have no concern for the freedoms of any group of people, including his subjects.
The Drama of Liberty Out of the 137 Lake Orion High School teachers and faculty, no adult stands out quite like Scott Finn. As a English, Speech, and Theater teacher at the large high school, Finn works with teenagers every day and is also responsible for mentoring the Lake Orion Thespian Troupe. However, Scott Finn is no ordinary teacher; he stands out as a unique individual in multiple ways that prevent him from blending in with the majority. Much like Frederick Douglass, a famed literate escaped slave, Scott Finn is made special by the qualities he holds that allow him to affect so many at LOHS and influence so many of his students, as well as the other teenagers he works with.
Franklin D. Roosevelt deviated substantially from the Declaration of Independence in his State of the Union address by proposing the rights to freedom of speech, establishments of religion, searches without warrants, and convictions without trials. In this he proposed the second bill of rights, which promised positive guarantees for all Americans. He also promised to ensure the “pursuit of happiness” that was promised in the Declaration of Independence. The recurring theme throughout the speech is “security” and the necessary action to call war for the unrelenting war against the enemies of the New Deal both foreign and domestic.
At the dawn of the establishment of the United States of America as an independent nation, both men argued passionately for the need for religious liberty and the just opposition of any policy working against it. Despite sharing so many views, however, the two men contributed varied perspectives on the issues spurring their dedication to securing this

A vehicle made of shiny steel, rubber wheels, and a gas engine gives America its name and fame. The automobile symbolizes America’s legacy of freedom because it allows ease in job, home, and entertainment. To begin, the automobile broadens the options for the working class through a larger spectrum of places to settle and a larger salary for the average person. For the citizens of America owning a car means being able to arrive at work from wherever they may live, despite the circumstances. In “America’s Key to Freedom” Carol Domblewski states that” They had mobility any time they wanted, not just when a train schedule said they had it.”
The American revolution was all about freedom and liberty. Characters throughout the story voice different opinions on their idea of freedom and liberty. During this fight for freedom and liberty, there were three main groups. Patriots(colonist against the king), Loyalists(colonist for the king), and the slaves. They all describe freedom and liberty in different ways.
With this remark, Franklin appeals to a concept of eternal, uncompromising liberty ingrained in American democracy and juxtaposes that concept with the security concerns that all societies face. Today, America struggles as it did in Franklin’s time to balance the often antagonistic calls for liberty and calls for safety. As America attempts to counter domestic and foreign threats, Franklin’s call for liberty provides essential guidance. American politicians must take concerns for the safety of their nation seriously.
Liberty was an idea that America was founded upon. When the Constitution was being written, Benjamin Franklin gave a speech explaining why the delegates should sign the Constitution. Franklin admitted to the delegates that the document was not written to the best of its ability, and how he himself had doubts involving some parts. Overall, Franklin believed that this document would be something to protect the liberties of the people and would secure the people 's rights. Government preserves the liberty of citizens by their equality which leads to socialism.
Two rights In 1777 the colonies of the time were functioning without any sort of federal government. The problem was fixed when the Articles of Confederation were put into action. The Articles of Confederation established a form a governance and placed limits on government authority; it also created a national citizenship which applied to qualified members. The weaknesses however outweighed the benefits, which is why the Articles were scrapped entirely and the constitution was conceived.
Earlier in his life his brother was imprisoned for his newspaper because it “gave offense to the Assembly”. Although only imprisoned for a month, this was a huge injustice on what Franklin saw as basic human rights. Later in Benjamin Franklin’s life he had another experience with the freedom of speech being restrained. During his second time living in London, Benjamin Franklin came across letters from governors in the colonies that warned of the colonies losing dependence on Britain. Concerned with what the letters contained, Franklin sent them to a friend in Boston with explicit instructions not to have them published.
Two Concepts of Liberty Summary of the essay: In this essay, the famous political theorist Isaiah Berlin tries to differentiate between the notions of positive liberty and negative liberty. Berlin briefly discusses the meaning of the word ‘freedom’. He says that a person is said to free when no man or body of men interferes with his activity. He makes reference to many philosophers in the essay, but there is more emphasis on the thoughts of J. S. Mill and Rousseau, the former being a firm advocate of negative liberty while the latter believes strongly in the ideals of positive liberty.
True freedom is without obstruction or restraint yet there are ways in which freedom leads to restraint. Many advances and opportunities gave rise during 1865 and 1910 in America along with it came a sense of freedom for the people who migrated or resigned there. People like Jurgis had the freedom to work, earned money, and own a home of their own, but in all reality they were not free but trapped by the very things that they had the freedom to obtain. Industrialization was a big thing in The United States and everyone wanted to be part of it immigrants like Jurgis would leave their home lands and travel to the city where there was said to be an abundance of jobs and opportunities.
