To be an american you must act live as an american, so be free, strong, and courageous. Being american is best understood by the way of life as an American. Since the birth of america, Americans have fought for what they thought was right and to fulfill a dream or their manifest destiny. From the start of America we acted on the human rights and set ourselves free and formed the idea of freedom and strength in America. With the Amendments established our freedoms like the first amendment Freedom of expression which states “the First Amendment means that government has no power to restrict expression because of its message, its ideas, its subject matter, or its content” as said by Thurgood Marshall. As shown by the statement Americans can go against the ideals of anyone without being censored or be threatened by the government. We have more freedoms such as religion, Assembly, and freedom of petition with due said america is built on the rights of the people making Americans “Free”. …show more content…

To represent this take a look at the flag raising in Iwo Jima where it was a turning point of the battle. It shows Americans willingness to fight. In the POW movie “Unbroken” in which a soldier plane crashes in the pacific ocean and was later captured by the Japanese and was given cruel treatment by the commander and survived and was free when the Japanese surrendered. Another representation of being American is courage. Martin luther King Jr. was a person who delivered more rights to African Americans who were treated unfairly due to their race.
