IS FREEDOM OF SPEECH LEADNG TO THE NATIONAL DISHARMONY? Research shows that 2.22 billion people in the world use social media meaning 30% of the whole world use social media. Social media is a platform where people can share their ideas with others, discuss about some interesting topics and tell others what they think. People are able to talk to people and share their ideas because they have freedom to express their thoughts and the freedom to speak, they have the freedom of speech. Malleshappa Madivalappa Kulburgi

Like George Washington the first president of the United States said that ‘If the freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be lead, sheep to the slaughter.’ This means that if freedom of speech is not there or taken away then people should have simply accepted to the orders of the higher authorities whether it’s good or bad. So people would not have gotten the chance to express their views and would lead to the deprivation in their thinking skills and this would have continued to generations and lead to a world of people who can’t think and be creative.
Current scenario:
As of now freedom of speech is affecting the harmony as many people are giving their opinions which might hurt others or anger them. There is no unity because the people are given the freedom to speak anything they want and people are using this in the wrong way meaning that people use the freedom to scold people and to tell hate speeches about religion or discrimination.

1st Amendment and the College Campus Have you ever wondered why some college campus protests are shutdown even though the first amendment is in place? The first amendment does not always protect in every situation. The first amendment wasn’t enforced much until the 1960’s and 70’s, when the anti-war and gender equality protests first started. College campuses have a right to impede on the first amendment if it is restricting someone else’s rights. In many cases some protesters will block off an entrance to an event or will start to harass people walking past.
The first amendment may seem like something that is generally understood among all of those who use it, but this may not be the case. While most citizens of the United States of America would certainly say that they understand and can comprehend what the first amendment means, an underlying lack of knowledge, upon what is presumed to be the most important of all the amendments, can still be discovered. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people to peaceably assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The specific piece of the first amendment that is particularly important
Why is the first amendment the most important, people may ask? It is important because it gives people the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech, and the right to peacefully assemble and petition the government. There is a boiling pot in the America so everybody is different , and with different mixes from different places. People may say what they want because of their opinion. If they feel like they need to say their words louder than others they can do that to, well now i’m going to explain to how the first amendment is the most important .
Civil liberties are rights guaranteed to citizens in the Constitution that the government cannot interfere with, however, in the name of national security, they do. The government sometimes finds it necessary for Americans to give up some of their basic rights to keep the nation protected, but many people find this unnecessary. A law-abiding citizen’s extremely personal information should not be essential to finding terroristic threats within this society. Under no circumstances should an American citizen’s civil liberties be violated in a time of war or crisis, because those are assured rights that are most valuable to their freedom during national conflicts.
Censorship of The First Amendment This paper will discuss how censorship denies citizens of the United States our full rights as delineated in the First Amendment. It will outline how and why the first amendment was created and included in the Constitution of the United States of America. This paper will also define censorship, discuss a select few legal cases surrounding freedom of speech and censorship as well as provide national and local examples of censorship.
The 1st Amendment You are talking about the government... BOOM!! You're in jail.
When it comes to policing there is a huge struggle power struggle between individual rights and public order. You want to keep individual rights, but you also want to keep public order while keeping the public safe. It may seem hard to keep the balance between these two, but doing so is of utter importance. Here are some examples of why it can be hard to balance individual rights and public order when dealing with policing.
The idea of free speech on college campuses and the complications of it stem from those on campuses expressing views that don’t align with popular views. Implications for students who use the idea of free speech as a method for hateful actions and comments should be reprimanded, but the question remains as to whether schools should enforce tougher limitations. The freedom of speech on college campus expands to the freedoms of religion, assembly, press, and protest as well. Freedom of expression allows students to show their own political, social, and cultural views. Removing freedoms of speech and expression have consequences deeper than surface issues.
Our own country is basically threatening ourselves from the freedom of speech and should encourage everyone to express themselves without punishment. This is not necessarily an issue that can be resolved, but it needs to be made publicized and be made aware of. Too much of society are triggered by a simple few words they may come across when scrolling a timeline. Social media is an influential and high powered tool that’s forced a new lifestyle. We must make ourselves and others comfortable with expressing themselves while handling criticism to ensure protection of our freedom of
The English Oxford dictionary defines freedom as “The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants.” This definition is partially true while these are the qualities of freedom, we can only have these rights as long as we don’t interfere with another's freedom. So, what isn’t freedom? A quote from a journalist of the Daily Beast, P.J. O’Rourke, answers this pretty well.
The fact that one has the right to say and believe is the foundation for democracy to function. If no one dared to say their opinions, then it had become a dictatorship where only one opinion on how society and the country should work had been the “right”. If people dared to express their opinions, they will help improving the society one lives. Freedom of speech gives one the responsibility to consider what fits into different contexts, and it will make us better persons and people. Simply, people will feel safe in the society they live in.
