The L’Oréal group is a French cosmetics and beauty company which is the leading company of the beauty products. According to Fast Company (2014), L’Oréal was founded on 30th July 1990 by Eugene Shueller. They always produce the most advanced products accessible to both the genders. The ambassadors embody a positive beauty ideal summed up in the legendary signature: “Because you’re worth it.” (L’Oréal, n.d.). They produce make-up, skincare, haircare, hair styling, hair color and men’s expert products.

According to Business Dictionary (n.d.), matrix is an organizational structure with horizontal flow of skill and information to manage large projects or product development which draws employees from different departments to a team without removing them from their respective positions for a project. Employed by both function and product, the structure allows different product categories to be seen according to the corresponding provisions of various departments of power and responsibility in L’Oréal (Blabla Writing, n.d.). This structure shares technologies, improves coordination with the rest of the departments and allows information to pass quickly to get effective feedbacks (Uk essays, 2003). This structure allows direct contact between local managers of L’Oréal and the consumers to meet challengers of competitors or potential competitors (Blabla Writing, n.d.). Chimoriya, B (2015) states that the main responsibility of the project manager of matrix structure is to maintain coordination among interrelated factors of a project and communicate with horizontal and vertical authorities to achieve control and coordination. Firstly, the company has a Research and Innovation department. The principle of “beauty is above all scientific adventure” is reflected on the role played by research and innovation division, where employees team up to visualize and create products for tomorrow (L’Oréal, n.d.). Secondly, the Operation department employee a large pool of approximately 18,000 workers to develop, manufacture and supply the products (L’Oréal, n.d.). L’Oréal n.d., also states that they are organized in a way which promotes collaboration with Research and Marketing teams for effective innovation. The employees work in a dynamic environment which allows them to acquire various skills and expertise to enable them to achieve development and customer service ambitions (L’Oréal, n.d.). Thirdly, the Human Resource department plays a major role in the company’s growth. The team must reconcile factors of helping employees chose right career path while supporting the business goal (L’Oréal, n.d.) Supporting L’Oréal’s managers worldwide, the team’s mission is to appeal, recognize, select, grow and reward the best in all the group’s business units and divisions (L’Oréal, n.d.). Lastly, is the production department responsible to manufacture high quality products. After doing research for this assignment, it helped me to understand that, first various teams and organizations run and do things differently from one another. Background L’Oréal is the largest cosmetics company in France because it has a reputation regarding cosmetics, perfumes, hair products and skin cares. As stated by L 'Oréal (2016), in 1909, L’Oréal was founded by Eugène Schueller, a French pharmacist, innovated a hair dye formula which then later on it has become the number one cosmetic group in the world nowadays.
After these companies go about developing products, which may be product modification or it may be a completely new product. Product offerings are increasing every year as consumers are looking for more and more variety of products. Companies which are unable to churn out new products fall back on competition and suffer the consequences. Companies face danger not just from competitors but consumer needs, technology, and product life cycle. New product development has its share of challenges.
Question 1. Important aspects of teams in a healthcare environment. In general, one important aspect of a team in a healthcare environment is the emergence of teamwork. In teamwork, every team members has a role to partake so that the organizational goals of the institution will be met and success will be achieved.
Introduction “So glam, so Kylie.” That’s the motto of Kylie Cosmetics, one of the newest companies from the United States to join the cosmetics industry. Despite it being around for only less than a year, Kylie Cosmetics has been highly raved about by many mainly due to its owner being Kylie Jenner, a known television personality. Kylie Cosmetics was initially praised for its lip kits where consumers would get the ‘perfect pout’ or the ‘perfect Kylie look’. Eventually, the company turned into an all around cosmetics brand, providing makeup lovers with more than just lip products.
Lancôme immediately creates an association with Paris and happiness. It further positions itself as an award winning luxury brand. With brand ambassadors who aim to embody the vision of the brand, it clearly delivers a message that the range of products involved caters to the ‘elite’ economic strata of the society. Alike L’Oreal Paris, Lancôme too would have to adopt a strategy that develops a good customer lifetime value. c.

3.3 Leading The founder of ZARA, Amancio Ortega is known for his leadership skills as that has contributed a big part to his success. His success depicts a leader with a strong vision and is clear about their purposes at all times. It is said that he was an autocratic leader first where the concentration of power was focused on him. But once his business ascended, and his reputation became superior, his leadership style transformed to a democratic way of leadership.
Contemporary management involves many aspects of management. These aspects include planning, leading, organising and controlling operations to achieve certain organisational goals. When comparing different management levels it is evident that at all levels emphasise the importance of using resources effective and responsibly. Managers should be able to build their own as well as their subordinates’ skills, regarding decision making, monitoring information and supervising personnel are which are essential to success. Managers have great responsibilities, these responsibilities include managing a diverse work force, maintaining a competitive edge, behaving ethically and using emerging technologies.
The different type of structures (1) Functional – each portion of the organisation is grouped according to its purpose. (2) Matrix - ‘’ creates project teams that cut across traditional functional departments, instead of highlighting the role or status of individuals, it gathers together a team of specialists with the objective of completing a task or a project successfully ‘’ . (3) Divisional – It is the grouping of workers on the basis of products being produced, followed by the functional structure. There are two types of divisional structure , (a) Product structure (b) Process structure (4) Geographical – It is the grouping of workers on the basis of regions, followed by the functional structure and , (5) Hierarchical structure which has been adopted by Ritz Carlton. It shows the different levels of hierarchy, span of control and chain of command.
